Iraqis Fight al Qaeda, Call For US Help

Here's a story that somehow slipped through the censors:
BAGHDAD - A battle raged Thursday in west Baghdad after residents rose up against al-Qaida and called for U.S. military help to end random gunfire that forced people to huddle indoors and threats that kept students from final exams, a member of the district council said.
Update: Omar at Iraq the Model has talked to friends in the area, and says that the AP has mischaracterized the fighting, and that the groups are actually opposing insurgent bands:
The two groups, teams actually, were later identified; on one side there's al-Qaeda and the Islamic state in Iraq and on the other there's the Islamic army and 'Jaish al-Mujahideen' (The brigades of the 1920 revolution in another account), the latter are know to be largely military and intelligence officers of the former regime as well as members of the Baath Party.
Hmmm, maybe we should help both sides.

Omar still considers AQ in Iraq to be in a bad way:
Either way, al-Qaeda is under pressure on more than one front and it has lost a bunch of its commanders and fighters and this is always good news.
Thanks to guy in comments at the The Jawa Report.

Gay Rapists With AIDS

Sounds as high-camp as "Snakes on a Plane," doesn't it?

From Agence France Presse:
A gay gang that allegedly raped victims lured on the Internet, drugged them and infected them with the AIDS virus has shocked the Netherlands and raised questions over its liberal sex culture.
Health Minister Ab Klink on Thursday called the case "horrible", as the press splashed the news across its front pages.

The matter came to light Wednesday, when police said they had arrested three seropositive homosexual men two weeks ago after four victims, men aged 25 to 50, accused them of rape and premeditated bodily harm.
If convicted, they face as much as 16 years. Wow, the Dutch are really tough.

Spam Zombiemaster Arrested

A man said to be one of the worst spammers in the world has been arrested and may face decades in jail:
Robert Alan Soloway is accused of using networks of compromised "zombie" computers to send out millions upon millions of spam e-mails.

"He's one of the top 10 spammers in the world," said Tim Cranton, a Microsoft Corp. lawyer who is senior director of the company's Worldwide Internet Safety Programs. "He's a huge problem for our customers. This is a very good day."

A federal grand jury last week returned a 35-count indictment against Soloway charging him with mail fraud, wire fraud, e-mail fraud, aggravated identity theft and money laundering.
Excellent. Now, if they'd start arresting everyone involved with popup ads and browser hijackers...

The Imperial Press Deigns to Apologize

Not for anything substantive, of course, but we peasants must be grateful for the crumbs we receive.

Today Show Face Matt Lauer graciously provides this absolutely classic example of "do what I say and never mind what I do":
(AP) BOSTON After challenging New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine for not wearing a seat belt, "Today" show co-host Matt Lauer apologized Wednesday for an interview with Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney in which neither man wore a seat belt while driving through New Hampshire.
Apparently, someone pointed out the hypocrisy of an NBC promo in which Lauer criticizes Corzine for not wearing his seatbelt, otherwise, no mention of this would have been made by Lauer.

Brit Academics Vow to Give Sanctuary to Extremists...

...And the University and College Union has voted unanimously to oppose the UK government's request that professors actually do their civic duty by reporting violent Islamist extremists among the student body. Instead, they choose to mischaracterize it as a "witch hunt," and plan to boycott the effort.

From Breitbart:
UCU joint general secretary Sally Hunt said academics did not want to be transformed into "some quasi secret service".

"UCU delegates have made it clear that they will oppose Government attempts to restrict academic freedom or free speech on campus," she said.

"Lecturers want to teach students, if they wanted to police them they would have joined the force. Universities must remain safe spaces for lecturers and students to discuss and debate all sorts of ideas, including those that some people may consider challenging, offensive and even extreme."
Like many a socially isolated ivory tower theoretician, Sally doesn't understand that sometimes ideas become actions.

Video : Say NO to the Amnesty Bill!

Mother Sheehan Acknowledges Mentalpause

Cindy Sheehan, noted psycho-hosebeast and defiler of her son's memory, is fed up with Americans' refusal to embrace isolationism and become a large, repressive, socialist paradise like her best bud Hugo is creating in Venezuela.

From Breitbart:
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Cindy Sheehan, the soldier's mother who galvanized an anti-war movement with her monthlong protest outside President Bush's ranch, said Tuesday she's done being the public face of the movement.
"I've been wondering why I'm killing myself and wondering why the Democrats caved in to George Bush," Sheehan told The Associated Press while driving from her property in Crawford to the airport, where she planned to return to her native California.

"I'm going home for awhile to try and be normal," she said.
Good luck with that.

Supporters of John Edwards?

From the Associated Press:
ORCAS ISLAND, Wash. (AP) - Vandals burned dozens of small American flags that decorated veterans' graves for Memorial Day and replaced many of them with hand-drawn swastikas, authorities said Monday.
Forty-six flag standards were found empty and another 33 flags were in charred tatters Sunday in the cemetery, authorities said. Swastikas drawn on paper appeared where 14 of the flags had been.

Members of the American Legion on this island off Washington's northwest coast replaced the burned flags with new ones Sunday afternoon.

The vandals struck again on Memorial Day after a guard left at dawn, the San Juan County sheriff's office said. This time, the vandals left 33 of the hand-drawn swastikas
Earlier, Presidential hopeful John Edwards had called for Memorial Day anti-war protests on his website. Good one, John.

Memorial Day, 2007

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Record 42 Hostages Freed in Single Raid

All 42 hostages were held in one place by al-Qaeda in Iraq.
AP via Yahoo News: BAGHDAD - U.S. forces raided an al-Qaida hide-out northeast of Baghdad on Sunday and freed 42 Iraqis imprisoned inside, including some who had been tortured and suffered broken bones, a senior U.S. military official said Sunday.

The raid was part of a 3-month-old security crackdown that included the deployment of 3,000 more U.S. troops to Diyala, a violent province north of the capital that has seen heavy fighting in recent weeks, said Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, the top U.S. military spokesman in
Iraq.

Caldwell said Iraqis told U.S. forces about the hide-out: "The people in Diyala are speaking up against al-Qaida."

He said the 42 freed Iraqis marked the largest number of captives ever found in a single al-Qaida prison. Some of those freed were held for as long as four months and some had injuries from torture and were taken to medical facilities for treatment.
Actually we reported that 5 were freed earlier in the week. Well that raid led to 12 more hostages, 7 more freed in Baquba and an Imam who was held hostage was freed as well.

Taliban Child Beheads 'Spy'

One of my colleagues at The Jawa Report has obtained frame captures, censored by Western news agencies, of a twelve year old boy sawing off the head of an accused "spy," under the tutelage of Taliban members. Jawa correspondent Howie reports that he was sickened and enraged as he transcribed the images.

These are some of the most twisted and perverse images on the internet, but you should go and view them. The West needs to really know what these savages are doing in the name of Allah.

Below is one of the images. It looks innocuous, unless you realize that the child is slowly sawing through the skin, gristle, bone, and spinal cord of a living human being - while a Taliban adult looks on and offers advice.

Here, the kid holds the severed head aloft in triumph, as an American twelve year old might hold up a prize trout, caught with the help of a favorite uncle. But this child is ruined.

As one of the commenters at Jawa pointed out, if this murderous child were killed in an air raid tomorrow, the Western press would report his death as that of an "innocent victim." He is not. He has surrendered his innocence to the perverted monsters of the Taliban.

Seems to Me, You Just Turn Your Pretty Head and Walk Away

The James Gang: "Walk Away"

Another Name Added to 9/11 Death Toll

Perhaps the first of many. Medical Examiners are now listing people who contracted pulmonary disease in the aftermath of the WTC collapse as victims of the Islamist terrorist attack.

From the Associated Press:
NEW YORK (AP) - A woman who died of lung disease five months after Sept. 11 was added Wednesday to the medical examiner's list of attack victims, marking the first time the city has officially linked a death to the toxic dust caused by the World Trade Center's collapse.
Felicia Dunn-Jones, a 42-year-old attorney who was caught in the dust cloud while fleeing the collapsing towers on Sept. 11, 2001, died of sarcoidosis, a disease that causes inflammation and scarring in the lungs, on Feb. 10, 2002.

"Mrs. Dunn-Jones' exposure to World Trade Center dust on 9/11/01 contributed to her death, and it has been ruled a homicide," Chief Medical Examiner Charles Hirsch wrote.

Dreamhost, A Terrorist Webmaster’s Hosting Dream

REPRINTED FROM HOWIE AT The Jawa Report.

As we noted last week, an al-Qaeda affiliated website named Voice of Jihad has been resurrected. The site was moved to Dreamhost after its previous host ran into some...errr...difficulties.

The site moved to a new provider named Dreamhost which is a US-based company. It is unlawful for a US company to knowingly provide services to a designated terrorist organization. We don't know who or where the site owner is to go after him but we do know who his service provider is.

So, when I realized it was a US company, I was hopeful that we could get the site removed. Often when US companies become aware they are hosting a terror website, they are more than cooperative and take it down soon after they are notified by email or phone. So we ran a post asking that you email Dreamhost's abuse department. Many of you did, but the response by Dreamhost was very weak. While Dreamhost acknowledged our emails nothing has been done and al-Qaeda's website remains active.

This confused me at first, surely the owner of Dreamhost, Josh Jones, is not one of those lefty America hating terrorist supporting bastards? Then I went to Mr. Jones' blog, (see below) and yes, he is an America hating terrorist supporting leftist bastard.

Exhibit A
ariannahuffington.jpg
Exhibit B (posted the day after we informed dreamhost of the site, coincidence?)
duh.jpg

My first email resulted in this response.
We empathize with your concerns regarding this site, but are unable to comment on any pending Abuse investigations. If you believe that a customer is engaging in unlawful activity, we encourage you to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigations regarding this matter. You can do this via the web using the Internet Crime Complaint Center, here:

http://www.ic3.gov/

As per our usual policy, we will cooperate in full with law enforcement to ensure that our services are not being used for illegal activity. I'm sorry I could not be of more assistance.
Another response from Dreamhost regarding a complaint from a Jawa reader directed at Deamhost's owner Josh Jones was intercepted by his secretary.
Josh, doesn't touch abuse, but thank you for writing and your kind words about the newsletter.

The email continues with the same canned response above. Still no action.

So apparently Josh is hoping to claim plausible deniability, he will say he doesn't know that his company is hosting terrorist websites as he goes around spending dirty terrorist money.

But wait! He cannot claim he is unaware of this problem because he has a blog and I notified him via his blog. And you know a little vain liberal pipsqueak like Josh reads his own blog!

So Dreamhost and its owner Mr. Josh Jones have been notified they are breaking the law by hosting this site. We have tried to be civil and polite but now they have no excuse for leaving the site up and you can report them to OFAC and the FBI here.

Josh, You'd better hang on to Awesome DreamHost Lawyer Guy, cause you might have a really bad need for him very soon.

Kidnapped Soldiers Reportedly Found Murdered

From IraqSlogger:
Multiple media outlets have confirmed through US military and Iraqi police sources that one body found Wednesday in the Euphrates river, reportedly with Western features and wearing US-issue military pants, has been turned over to US authorities.

The independent Iraqi news agency VOI is reporting that Iraqi police forces in Babel province have found two more bodies near al-Furat river in al-Musayab region, 50 km northwest of Hilla.
This is tragic, but not entirely unexpected news, given the subhuman nature of the enemy that our troops are facing in Iraq.

And the Seas Shall Engulf You, Vile Sinners!

Thou shalt be scourged with Fire and Water, Wind and Ice! Feckless nomads shalt thou become, doomed to roam the dying Earth with nowhere to rest thy weary and unworthy heads...

Patrick Ishmael from The NewsBuckit shares the remarkably alarmist pre-commencement address inflicted upon him and his classmates at St. Louis University:
As global temperatures rise, many things will happen that will in your lifetime change the world that we live in. Climate belts will shift northward, so that crops you see growing here may be better grown in Canada. Will the degrees you have earned in Arts and Sciences help you deal with the degrees of global warming that are predicted for the planet, and prepare you to help our nation deal with shifting agricultural and economic trends? How will populations, cities and towns react, when the core of their existence, agriculture, moves north? How will you use your SLU education to help the nation deal with these changes?
This is just a sample of the punishments that shall be visited upon those sons of man who commit blasphemy against the Church of Gaia, according to the speaker, who might be more at home preaching fire and brimstone at a charismatic snake handler tent revival.

Murtha Named 'Porker of the Month' by Government Watchdog Group

Citizens Against Government Waste has named prominent Defeatocrat John Murtha (D-PA) Porker of the Month:
Washington, D.C. - Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today named Representative John Murtha (D-Pa.) the May Porker of the Month for throwing a temper tantrum and threatening his colleagues over a challenge to a $23 million pet project in the Intelligence Authorization Act for fiscal year 2008.

Rep. Murtha became infuriated by Rep. Mike Rogers’ (R-Mich.) motion to challenge his earmark for the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) in Johnstown, Pa. According to The Politico, Rep. Murtha, who is not on the Intelligence Committee but does chair the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, confronted Rep. Rogers on the floor of the House and threatened to remove both any of his earmark requests in the defense appropriations bill and any other earmark “now and forever.” Rep. Rogers responded, “This is not the way we do things here and is that supposed to make me afraid of you?” To which Rep. Murtha arrogantly replied, “That’s the way I do it!”
Meanwhile, Murtha's House accomplices were voting against a reprimand for the jowly, pig-eyed, unindicted Abscam co-conspirator's antics.

Religion of Pieces

One quarter of American Muslims under age 30 see little wrong with becoming smithereen commandos.

From MSNBC:
WASHINGTON - One in four younger U.S. Muslims say suicide bombings to defend their religion are acceptable at least in some circumstances, though most Muslim Americans overwhelmingly reject the tactic and are critical of Islamic extremism and al-Qaida, a poll says.
Are there a hundred Muslim teens in your kids high school? Statistically, 25 of them see no problem with blowing you to kingdom come, if they think you're dissing their religion.

No doubt, CAIR and co-conspirators will shriek that this is a result of the isolation felt by Muslims in American society. They're wrong. This is a failure of Muslim American culture, reflective of the greater failure of worldwide Muslim culture that nurtures terrorism and led directly to 9/11.

This should be a wake-up call for Muslim moderates. It should not, though it will, be used as an opportunity to whine about how Muslims are perceived.

Iran Plotting Summer Offensive Against Coalition Troops in Iraq

The Guardian reports that the Iranian mullahcracy is allying with al Qaeda to spring a secret offensive in Iraq this summer:
Iran is secretly forging ties with al-Qaida elements and Sunni Arab militias in Iraq in preparation for a summer showdown with coalition forces intended to tip a wavering US Congress into voting for full military withdrawal, US officials say.

"Iran is fighting a proxy war in Iraq and it's a very dangerous course for them to be following. They are already committing daily acts of war against US and British forces," a senior US official in Baghdad warned. "They [Iran] are behind a lot of high-profile attacks meant to undermine US will and British will, such as the rocket attacks on Basra palace and the Green Zone [in Baghdad]. The attacks are directed by the Revolutionary Guard who are connected right to the top [of the Iranian government]."

The official said US commanders were bracing for a nationwide, Iranian-orchestrated summer offensive, linking al-Qaida and Sunni insurgents to Tehran's Shia militia allies, that Iran hoped would trigger a political mutiny in Washington and a US retreat. "We expect that al-Qaida and Iran will both attempt to increase the propaganda and increase the violence prior to Petraeus's report in September [when the US commander General David Petraeus will report to Congress on President George Bush's controversial, six-month security "surge" of 30,000 troop reinforcements]," the official said.
Thank you so much, Harry and Nancy.

I understand that Teheran has a parking shortage. Perhaps it's time we helped them out with that.

Disney Reacts to Farfur, the Terrorist Mouse

Disney executives didn't react to the first postings of Farfur, the Hamas terrorist mouse, a clear ripoff of Mickey, because it wouldn't have made any difference:
"We didn't mobilize our forces and seek to either have the clip taken down or to make any broad public statement about it," Iger told a gathering of the Society of Business Editors and Writers at the Disneyland Hotel.

"We were appalled by the use of our character to disseminate that kind of message," he said "I think anytime any group seeks to exploit children in that manner, it's despicable."

Still, Iger said it didn't seem to make any sense for Disney to make any loud public statement at the time.

"I just didn't think it would have any effect," he said. 'I think it should have been obvious how the company felt about the subject."
And they're probably right.

Reuters Giving Tactical Advice to Terrorists

Reuters, the "news" service that can't even bring itself to call a "freedom fighter" a terrorist when he's sawing off some hapless victim's head, is now disseminating tactical advice to Palestinian terrorists to help protect them from Israeli air raids.

From a Reuters AlertNet dispatch:
GAZA, May 21 (Reuters) - Hamas's armed wing cautioned its members on Monday to stop using cellular telephones and vehicles to avoid being tracked and targeted in Israel's escalating aerial attacks.

"Do not use the Jawwal phones at all," a Hamas spokesman, referring to a Palestinian cellular network, said in a radio message on an open channel used by Hamas gunmen in the Gaza Strip.

"Do not get in groups. Do not use any kind of transportation at all because the planes of the Zionist enemy are in skies all the time," he said.
Reuters "reporter" Nidal al-Mughrabi should be investigated for ties to terrorist groups for this blatant effort to help Palestinian babyhunters.

Do As I Say, Not As I Do Department

From the Times-Herald (Vallejo, CA):
A Vallejo woman reportedly suffered minor injuries Friday when her car was rear-ended by an SUV driven by a state senator talking on a cell phone while driving through Solano County.
State Sen. Carole Migden, D-San Francisco, was driving her new state-issued 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV at 10:40 a.m. on eastbound Highway 12 at Beck Avenue when she rear-ended Ellen Butawan, 31, of Vallejo, California Highway Patrol Officer Marvin Williford said.
Here's the ironical part:
Migden last year voted for a new law that takes effect in July 2008 that will impose a minimum fine of $20 for anyone caught using a cell phone while driving without a headset, ear bud or other technology that frees both hands.

Terrorist Behind January Murders of Soldiers Killed

The Army Times reports that Azhar al-Dulaimi has been killed:
BAGHDAD — U.S. forces on a raid in northern Baghdad killed a Shiite militant believed to have been the mastermind of a brazen January attack in Karbala that led to the capture and subsequent killing of four U.S. soldiers, the military said Sunday.

Speaking on CNN’s “Late Edition,” Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, the spokesman for the U.S.-led forces in Iraq, said U.S. troops had been pursuing Azhar al-Dulaimi “relentlessly,” since the Jan. 20 attack.
Good riddance. Hope it was a gutshot and took a while for him to die.

Onetime Hero of Anti-War Movement Faces Federal Charges

Featured by many leftist anti-war blogs, he claimed to have murdered and burned hundreds of innocent Iraqis in a mosque. One problem: he only spent six weeks in the army before being kicked out. Now he faces federal charges for trying to fraudulently collect veterans' benefits.

From the Associated Press:
Jesse Adam Macbeth, 23, formerly of Phoenix, garnered attention on blogs and in some alternative media after he began claiming in 2005 to have been awarded a Purple Heart for his service, which he said included slaughtering innocents in a Fallujah mosque. His story was contradicted by his discharge form, showing that he was kicked out of the Army after six weeks at Fort Benning, Ga., in 2003 because of his "entry level performance and conduct."

A complaint unsealed Friday in U.S. District Court in Seattle charged him with one count of using or possessing a forged or altered military discharge certificate, and one count of making false statements in seeking benefits from the Veterans Administration.
Eager to subvert US interests, lefty blogs posted MacBeth's spectacular allegations without corroboration:
Organizations that opposed the war, including Iraq Veterans Against the War, posted videos or statements containing Macbeth's claims on their Web sites. In one videotaped interview, a skinny, stuttering Macbeth, dressed in a camouflage jacket, described slaughtering hundreds of people in a mosque: "We would burn their bodies ... hang their bodies from the rafters in the mosque," he said.

Think Tank to Greenpeace: Put Up or Shut Up

In a sharply barbed May 18 press release, the National Center for Policy Research has challenged Greenpeace to reveal the identities of its donors of $50,000 or more for 2006. The conservative think tank is reacting to insinuations made by Greenpeace that oil company funding may be influencing the Center's positions on climate change and global warming.
Greenpeace - perhaps based on its own behavior - assumes that donations influence the stands groups such as ours take. They do not. So that the public can judge for themselves, we're challenging Greenpeace to complete transparency through disclosure of major gifts.

Funding from energy companies is not what is fueling the vigorous climate debate. What is fueling the debate is genuine, sincere belief that great uncertainties remain - both on the science and on the appropriate public policy response.
The think tank also pointedly emphasizes that being a Greenpeace executive is not a selfless sacrifice:
Further, Greenpeace Executive Director John Passacantando's compensation is three times - perhaps more - the total amount of corporate contributions The National Center for Public Policy Research received in 2006.

Mad Cow Murtha?

House dotard and unindicted Abscam co-conspirator Jack Murtha is making the news for shouting threats at political opponents on the House floor:
According to the draft resolution, Murtha shouted at and chastised Rogers [Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.)] on the House floor Thursday for offering a motion last week to challenge $23 million Murtha requested in an intelligence bill...

“I hope you don’t have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bills because they are gone, and you will not get any earmarks now and forever,” Murtha told Rogers, according to the draft transcript given to The Politico.

“This is not the way we do things here – and is that supposed to make me afraid of you?” Rogers replied.

“That’s the way I do it,” Murtha said...

This shouting match follows a similar outburst Murtha directed at Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.) last week.
Rogers will request a House vote to reprimand Murtha for his churlish behavior, but maybe Murtha should be examined by a physician for signs of Alzheimer's or Mad Cow Disease.

Middle Eastern Muslim Leaders Deplore "Terrorism"

Unfortunately, they don't define "the worst form of terrorism" as hijacking planes and using them to murder innocents. They define "the worst form of terrorism" as...Islamophobia.

From Arab News:
Speaking at a special brainstorming session on the sidelines of the 34th Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM), the foreign ministers termed Islamophobia the worst form of terrorism and called for practical steps to counter it.
I can suggest a practical step: stop excusing real terrorists, you vile hog anuses.

These idiots actually had the gall to lament the murder of Theo Van Gogh by a Muslim lunatic because it, "... was used in a wicked manner by certain quarters to stir up a frenzy against Muslims." Some frenzy; the only Muslims who have had their heads chopped off have had it done by fellow Muslims.

Gallup Poll: Independents and Republicans Even in Congressional (Dis)Approval

This is the real story from the latest Gallup poll measuring Americans' approval of the Democrat-controlled Congress: independents rate Congress equally as low as do Republicans (the 1% difference is statistically insignificant)
Even though Democrats now control both houses of Congress, the poll shows that only 37% of Democrats approve of the job Congress is doing right now. These marks are, however, significantly better than those given to Congress by independents (24%) and Republicans (25%).
Bottom line: 75% of non-Democrats are unhappy with Queen Nancy's and Prince Consort Harry's work.

Estonia Crippled by Cyber Attacks

Russia has been accused of conducting cyber-warfare against Estonia:
A three-week wave of massive cyber-attacks on the small Baltic country of Estonia, the first known incidence of such an assault on a state, is causing alarm across the western alliance, with Nato urgently examining the offensive and its implications.
While Russia and Estonia are embroiled in their worst dispute since the collapse of the Soviet Union, a row that erupted at the end of last month over the Estonians' removal of the Bronze Soldier Soviet war memorial in central Tallinn, the country has been subjected to a barrage of cyber warfare, disabling the websites of government ministries, political parties, newspapers, banks, and companies.
The use of attacks against computers shouldn't surprise anyone. Turkish jihadis have launched several Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks against The Jawa Report, and other conservative websites have been targets of cyberjihad as well.

Oddly enough, liberal websites aren't attacked by America's enemies. It's almost as if the Islamists consider Leftists to be allies or something.

Pelosi Bids to Become Queen, Republicans Shut Down House Floor

With Republicans forcing Democrats to go on record voting for tax increases through Motions to Recommit, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is threatening to change the House rules to deny Republicans the floor. From Representative Eric Cantor's website:
House Republicans are shutting down the floor, because the Democrats are threatening to change a rule and deny Republicans any opportunity to offer a motion to recommit on the "paygo" provisions of their legislation. That’s a lot of wonky talk; bottom line - the Democrats are preventing their Members from having to vote on the tax increases that they are trying to impose on the American People.

It is simply stunning that House Democrats want to change the germanenss rule on motions to recommit; this would be the first change to the germaneness rule since 1822.

Check back for updates. We will be updating on this showdown as it unfolds.

UPDATE: Rep. Westmoreland just moved for a recorded quorum call, then a motion that the committee will rise. Expect to see more of these…

Apostasy on the Rise in the Church of Global Warming

Uncomfortable with the shrill, politically based invective of Al Gore and others, a growing number of scientists are becoming skeptical of the theory of anthropogenic global warming.

One example, from the US Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works, Geologist Bruno Wiskel of the University of Alberta:
A November 15, 2006 Edmonton Sun article explains Wiskel’s conversion while building his “Kyoto house”: “Instead, he said he realized global warming theory was full of holes and ‘red flags,’ and became convinced that humans are not responsible for rising temperatures.” Wiskel now says “the truth has to start somewhere.” Noting that the Earth has been warming for 18,000 years, Wiskel told the Canadian newspaper, “If this happened once and we were the cause of it, that would be cause for concern. But glaciers have been coming and going for billions of years." Wiskel also said that global warming has gone "from a science to a religion” and noted that research money is being funneled into promoting climate alarmism instead of funding areas he considers more worthy.
EPW promises a comprehensive list of scientists who have become skeptical of current global warming theories soon.

Will the mainstream media embrace the new skepticism as wholeheartedly as they have global warming alarmism? Yeah, right.

Army Releases Names of Missing Soldiers

The Army has released the names of four soldiers as "whereabouts unknown," following the ambush of a patrol on May 12. While three soldiers are believed to have been kidnapped by terrorists, a fourth, whose body was burned, remains unidentified until DNA tests can be performed:
Reported as DUSTWUN are:

Sgt. Anthony J. Schober, 23, of Reno, Nev.

Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Mass.

Pfc. Joseph J. Anzack Jr., 20, of Torrance, Calif.

Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Mich.

Search and recovery efforts are ongoing, and the incident is under
investigation.
All of the missing soldiers are from the 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum near Watertown, New York.

MSNBC Hit by Friendly Fire

First, an emptyheaded MSNBC producer goes to the leftwing lunatic fringe parody site The White House looking for quotes regarding the death of Jerry Falwell. Then, an equally emptyheaded on air personality says this to Chris Matthews (who did seem to be aware of the mistake):
And the other thing is, too, you're looking at a guy, Jerry Falwell, who had a lot of influence on the current President, even now, in fact, one of my producers just pulled up a page on White House dot org where you could...they say Dr. Falwell has earned his role as the de facto executive director of domestic and global policy for the White House. How much influence did he have on George W. Bush?
Bang. Duh, you stupid bimbo.

John Edwards' Plot to Pervert Memorial Day

GM Roper writes eloquently about the true meaning of Memorial Day, leading up to the revelation that Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards is encouraging liberals to crap all over the holiday.

From the $400 haircut assweasel's Memorial Day hate site:
Get vocal. Buy a bunch of poster-board and markers. At a picnic or with family and friends, make signs that say “SUPPORT THE TROOPS - END THE WAR.” Bring them to your local Memorial Day parade. Then take a digital photo of yourself and your family or friends holding up the poster and tell us about it. We’ll include it in a “Democracy Photo Album” on our site.

How the MSM Spell Failure

You've read all the breathless stories and listened to the venal politicians comparing Iraq to Vietnam. Here's a visual aid:

How the MSM Spell Success

This is how the Washington Post handles the sharp increase in terrorist-insurgent captures since the start of the surge:
New Detainees Strain Iraq's Jails
Sharp Rise Follows Start of Security Plan; Suspects Housed With Convicts

BAGHDAD -- The capture of thousands of new suspects under the three-month-old Baghdad security plan has overwhelmed the Iraqi government's detention system, forcing hundreds of people into overcrowded facilities, according to Iraqi and Western officials.
Success, couched in the terms of failure. Because the mainstream media, like the Democrat party it serves, can't tolerate victory.

Mainstream Media Still Supressing News of Vets' Petition

The Appeal for Courage, organized by a Navy vet who served in Baghdad has collected over 3,000 signatures of active duty personnel since February, 2007:
As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.
There are 23 entries in the Google "news" search category, most of them from conservative blogs questioning the lack of MSM coverage.

The Appeal for Redress, organized by a Navy vet who served aboard a ship off the coast of Iraq, has collected fewer than 2,000 signatures of active duty personnel, though it has been trying to gather them for much longer than the Appeal for Courage - since October, 2006. They do however, boast 98 entries in Google's "news" category, including gushes from the New York Times and Sixty Minutes.

Yet, despite the media blackout, Appeal for Courage's word-of-mouth campaign has out-performed the media's chosen petition.

Associated Press Concedes Terrorists Using YouTube

In a story about the (in my opinion) misguided new Pentagon policy preventing servicepeople from accessing certain internet sites, the Associated Press finally comes out and admits that terrorists (the AP calls them "insurgents") are posting video to YouTube:
Iraqi insurgents or their supporters have been posting videos on YouTube at least since last fall. The Army recently began posting videos on YouTube showing soldiers defeating insurgents and befriending Iraqis.
In other words, the AP is saying that Google, through its YouTube subsidiary, is willfully providing aid and comfort to America's enemies.

Fort Dix Tipster May Need Immunity: Lawmakers

The Circuit City clerk who reported a jihadi video that the accused Fort Dix terrorists wanted transferred to DVD may need Congressional action to protect him from being sued:
"The events in Fort Dix are just another reminder of the need for this legislation," said Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican and author of legislation to protect "John Doe" passengers being sued by a group of Muslim imams for reporting their suspicious behavior.

"We owe a debt of gratitude to this individual for alerting authorities to this potential terrorist attack and thwarting what could have been a terrible disaster. I can only imagine how grateful the men and women at Fort Dix and their families are for the courage of this person to take action when he saw something suspicious," Mr. Pearce said.
The group of imam anuses should count themselves lucky that they weren't torn to bloody scraps.

Next time a Fort Dix-type conspiracy is discovered, authorities should wait until the terrorists begin their attack, then blow them away.

The Latest Mainstream Media Lie...

...is a lie of omission.

John Hinderaker at Powerline writes about The Appeal for Courage:
As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.
It was signed by 2,700 active duty service men and women, and the only place you'll read about it is on blogs like this one.

Not your local newspaper, not CNN, certainly not NBC or CBS - not even Fox, so often accused of leaning right. But you'll certainly hear about three disgruntled generals and their hissy fits over strategy and tactics. That's news, at least as profoundly biased mainstream media types define it.

It should shame every one of us that those who are putting their lives at risk for our freedom and safety feel the need to publicly ask the folks at home and their representatives to grow a pair of balls.

XM Radio Hate Speech

A guest on the Opie and Anthony show describes what he'd like to do to a black woman:
"I'd love to f-ck that b-tch, dude. She needs a f-ckin' man. I'll f-ck that b-tch today...Punch her all in the f-ckin' face - shut up b-tch!"
It's okay though, because he's referring to Republican Condoleeza Rice, not regular black women, like Don Imus when he called members of the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy headed 'ho's," and was fired at the insistence of leading African American bigot Al Sharpton.

The guest went on to voice a similar fantasy about Laura Bush and the Queen of England. This, of course, is allowed because they are white women.

Now, if I were to suggest, for example, that this man is a degenerate misogynist who should be dragged behind a pickup truck...

Farfur the Terrorist Mouse Still on the Air

The vile, bloodthirsty ripoff of Mickey Mouse that Hamas supposedly took off the air is still poisoning the minds of Palestinian children:
RAMALLAH, West Bank -- A Hamas-run television channel has defied a Palestinian government request to axe a controversial children's cartoon in which a Mickey Mouse look-alike urges resistance against Israel.
Via Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs, who has this to say about Western media coverage of the Farfur story:
The international media are absolutely disgusting and reprehensible with this story; they’re doing their level best to whitewash and minimize the impact, and it’s shameful beyond belief.
Not surprising, considering how Western media dropped trou, lay down, and took it up the pooper for Hezbollah propagandists during the Israeli/Hezbollah War.

Farfur the Terrorist Mouse Yanked by Hamas...and CNN

Glenn Beck planned to show video of Farfur, the Hamas terrorist mouse. Then a faction at CNN complained of "massive" problems with the translation. Beck pulled the segment, then found out the real story: the "massive" translation problem involved one word, and the original translation was correct all along.

Meanwhile Hamas has pulled the show from their televison network.

Chavez Moves to Silence Venezuelan Media Criticism

Proving that God has not lost His sweet sense of irony, that darling of the Left, sworn enemy of the evil legions of the repressive Bushitlerburton Empire, the Bronze Whale himself, Hugo Chavez, is closing Venezuela's most popular television network for criticizing his regime.

From Marketplace:
Venezuela's oldest, most-watched TV network is going to have its broadcast license pulled by the government at the end of the month. It's the price for getting on the wrong side of President Hugo Chavez. Dan Grech reports.

After the 2002 coup, the four main networks continued to attack Chavez. He branded them the "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse," and he crafted new laws that made it easier to take them off the air. That's led to widespread self-censorship....

...When RCTV's signal flickers off, Chavez says a national public service channel will take its place.

Al Qaeda Trying to Place Moles in British Intelligence

House Dems Try New Surrender Tack

After having their original surrender proposal vetoed by the President and failing to override, House Democrats are plotting a new tactic for waving the white flag:

Islamist Cleric Issues Fatwa, Accuses AQ in Iraq of 'Devil's Work'

But, lest you think that jihadi terrorist supporter Sheikh Hamed Al-Ali has suddenly started to evolve past the ninth century, it's not the actual murders of innocents that he despises, it's the effect this has on the jihadi terrorist movement as a whole. This a tactical disagreement, not a philosophical one.

From MEMRI:
On April 4, 2007, Islamist Kuwaiti Sheikh Hamed Al-Ali, known for his support of the jihad fighters, issued a fatwa criticizing the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) and characterized its establishment as a forbidden act of religious innovation. Al-Ali called upon the founders of the ISI (i.e., on Al-Qaeda in Iraq) to dissolve the ISI and to reassume their status as an ordinary jihad group operating in cooperation with the other jihad organizations.
Let the head chopping begin.

Cuban dictator Fidel Castro blames freedom and prosperity for a failed defection attempt by two Cuban soldiers:
HAVANA (Reuters) - Convalescing Cuban leader Fidel Castro accused the United States on Monday of inspiring two Cuban military deserters who killed an officer during their failed attempt to hijack a plane to escape from Cuba.

In an editorial column, Castro said the pair were hoping to enjoy American consumer society and were encouraged by the prospect of impunity in the United States.
Yeah, that's it. It couldn't possibly be caused by decades of bloody-handed oppression by Castro and his stooges.

Hamas Mouse Brainrapes Children

In the latest example of the diseased spasms that pass for "culture" among the Palestinians, Hamas television is using a Mickey Mouse lookalike to poison the minds of Palestinian children.

Here's what "Farfur" has to say about evil Jews and eventual Islamic world domination:
Farfur: "Yes, we, tomorrow's pioneers, will restore to this nation its glory, and we will liberate Al-Aqsa, with Allah's will, and we will liberate Iraq, with Allah's will, and we will liberate the Muslim countries, invaded by murderers."

Saraa': "Yes, they are children occupied by the Jews, but with the will of Allah, we will resist and protect against the Zionist occupation."

Farfur: "Until we win, with the will of Allah, we will resist until we win."
F-A-R-F-U-R, KILL A JEW FOR ME-E-E-E-!

Ecomaniacs

Paul Watson, founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, says that you are a virus infecting planet Earth:
Curing a body of cancer requires radical and invasive therapy, and therefore, curing the biosphere of the human virus will also require a radical and invasive approach.
How radical? Watson thinks that the parasitical human population should be reduced to less than a billion, and those chosen to survive should inhabit colonies of twenty thousand or less, with uninterrupted wild areas separating them. They will all be vegans or vegetarians, of course, and reproduction will be limited to those who are responsible enough, in Watson's judgement, to handle parenthood.

According to Watson, man has been an "AIDS virus" attacking the planet since his earliest hominid ancestors emerged in Africa. In other words, he's a true misanthrope, not merely a run-of-the-mill technophobe. He hates everyone, even Australian aborigines, whom he accuses of destroying prehistoric Aussie megafauna by setting brush fires. Those bastards.

Related: this group of econuts says that children are bad for the planet.

Random scary thought: Tom Clancy's book "Debt of Honor" was published years before 9/11 and featured a fanatic crashing an airliner into the Capitol Building. Clancy's book "Rainbow Six" features a group of ecomaniacs who plot to wipe out the Earth's population using bio-engineered Ebola virus.

Pro-American Conservative Elected President of France

From CNN:
PARIS, France (CNN) -- Conservative Nicolas Sarkozy greeted news of his election Sunday to a five-year term as France's president with a vow to serve as a leader for all people of France.

"The president of the republic must love and respect all the French," he told cheering supporters at his campaign headquarters. "I will be the president of all the French people.

Sarkozy won with 53 percent of the vote in Sunday's presidential runoff, according to preliminary results issued by the French Interior Ministry. Socialist Segolene Royal took 47 percent of the vote.
The new French president also had this to say:
Sarkozy added that he wanted to tell his "American friends that they can rely on our friendship ... France will always be next to them when they need us."
We have a saying here in the States, "talk is cheap." It remains to be seen whether Sarkozy's France will really be there.

TSA Suits Lose Employees' Personal Data

In a balls-up that will have a familiar ring to anyone who has worn the uniform of a Transportation Security Administration officer, someone at TSA headquarters has managed to lose a hard drive containing the personal information, including Social Security numbers, for 100,000 employees:
Authorities realized Thursday the hard drive was missing from a controlled area at TSA headquarters. TSA Administrator Kip Hawley sent a letter to employees Friday apologizing for the lost data and promising to pay for one year of credit monitoring services....

In a statement released Friday night, the agency said the external - or portable - hard drive contained information on employees who worked for the Homeland Security agency from January 2002 until August 2005.
TSA employs about 50,000 people. That should give you an idea of the turnaround at this vital agency. While the uniformed TSA screeners were carefully selected (11 out of 12 applicants were rejected when TSA was formed), the "exemp" non-uniformed employees were often not carefully chosen. Many cushy slots were filled through cronyism.

Uniformed TSA personnel must requalify every six months in a grueling, weeklong process of "recertify or hit the road." The "command" personnel have no such requirement, and, indeed, are not even certified to watch the exit doors at airports.

Or even watch what the hell is going on in their office environments...

ABC Misses Point of YouTube Story

In a story about the liberal political bias that characterizes the popular YouTube internet video site and the rise of a new, conservative alternative site, QubeTV, ABC's Jennifer Parker misses the real problem with YouTube; that the site has become a haven for Islamist terrorist-sympathizers.

This is Parker's story in a nutshell:
But YouTube, which is owned by Google, has also been a favorite target of conservatives, who accuse the site of a liberal bias.
A charge which Parker dismisses airily:
Nonethless, most Internet watchers dismiss the idea that YouTube is inherently biased.
But most conservatives aren't as concerned about YouTube's hatred of Michelle Malkin and other conservatives (it's not news, being systemic within the American media), ss they are with YouTube's utter failure to stop the vilest anti-American, pro-terrorist cyber-jihadis from using YouTube to spread their message of hatred.

What does Google's video site have to offer the techno-savvy young jihadi? Well, ten minutes of searching yielded this jihadi propagandist, this Taliban propagandist from Afghanistan, and a Ba'athist propagandist who posted this Saddam tribute video.

The real problem is that Google, as did the previous owners, is allowing YouTube to be used as a tool for mass propaganda. In other words, Google, the company whose motto is supposedly "Don't be evil," is deliberately and directly supplying aid and comfort to America's enemies.

Plot To Blow Up Iraqi Girls' School Foiled

A suspected al Qaeda in Iraq plot to conceal explosives in a school for girls under construction has been foiled:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- American soldiers discovered a girls school being built north of Baghdad had become an explosives-rigged "death trap," the U.S. military said Thursday.

The plot at the Huda Girls' school in Tarmiya was a "sophisticated and premeditated attempt to inflict massive casualties on our most innocent victims," military spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell said...

The plot was uncovered Saturday, when troopers in the Salaheddin province found detonating wire across the street from the school. They picked up the wire and followed its trail, which led to the school. Once inside, they found an explosive-filled propane tank buried beneath the floor. There were artillery shells built into the ceiling and floor, and another propane tank was found, the military said.
Of course, according to Michael Moore, this is exactly the sort of thing that the Continental Army did during the American Revolution. Why else refer to Islamist terrorists as "freedom fighters?"

Let's Do the Timewarp Again!

Quick, somebody rescue US Representative John Conyers (D-Fantasy Island) from the twisted region of space-time he apparently inhabits.

Included in H.R. 1592 is this, frankly, bizarre paragraph:
(7) For generations, the institutions of slavery and involuntary servitude were defined by the race, color, and ancestry of those held in bondage. Slavery and involuntary servitude were enforced, both prior to and after the adoption of the 13th amendment to the Constitution of the United States, through widespread public and private violence directed at persons because of their race, color, or ancestry, or perceived race, color, or ancestry. Accordingly, eliminating racially motivated violence is an important means of eliminating, to the extent possible, the badges, incidents, and relics of slavery and involuntary servitude.
Did somebody declare the Emancipation Proclamation unconstitutional? Are American blacks being shanghaied into slavery? Why aren't the MSM hacks reporting this, and what else are they concealing from us?

It's possible, I suppose, that Conyers is thinking of those African-Americans who sometimes stray off the Democrat Political Plantation. You know, the folks branded as "race traitors," or "Uncle Toms" for the crime of thinking for themselves. Perhaps he wants to end the enslavement of over ninety percent of America's black population by the liberal propaganda machine, but I doubt it.

In any case, President Bush will likely veto Conyers' bill.

Annual LA Hippy Roundup and Jamboree

Wearing special breathing apparatus to ward off the vile stench (note the trash and droppings on the ground) officers of the LAPD herd native wild hippies into MacArthur Park for the traditional jamboree.

Activities include the ritual hosedown and delousing followed by the hippy toss and hog-tying. The "Ride the Wild Hippy" event was not held this year, due to concerns about communicable disease after several participants had to be treated for Hepatitus C and various STDs following last year's jamboree.

The hippies were later released to their natural habitat. No hippies were harmed during filming.

Here's the actual story.
