What Did Ann Coulter Really Say?

The broadcast networks and other mainstream sources have deliberately misquoted conservative author Ann Coulter as wishing for John Edwards' to be killed by terrorists. Coulter was actually criticizing HBO propagandist Bill Maher for wishing that terrorists had killed Vice President Dick Cheney, a remark that was completely ignored by the MSM.

Update: Maher may not have said exactly what Coulter claimed.

Writing at ABC's blog Political Punch Jake Tapper quotes Maher as questioning why the Huffington Post deleted comments wishing for the Veep's death, and then said:
"No, I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live," said Maher. "That’s a fact."
Tapper softpeddles Maher's malicious comments, but does note that MSM outlets were "unfair" in truncating Coulter's sentence. Tapper does not address the issue of Maher being given a pass by the MSM on his comment, nor does he comment on the absurdity of "we in the media" correcting the gross dishonesty with a post on a relatively low-traffic blog.

Bluto Doesn't Do Racial Preferences

One of our more active and doctrinaire trolls, who calls himself "El Campeador," or "The Valiant One," has stooped to injecting race into his anti-American rants:
...I'm blacker than most Iraqis, you thick cvnt. I can grow an afro. I have big thick nigger lips. But somehow, you've turned me into a lily white 'leftard' (whatever that is) who doesn't like 'brown people'...El Campeador | 06.26.07 - 8:35 am | #
Not being a big fan of people stupid enough to continue playing Charlie Brown to the DNC's Lucy, I replied to EC thus:
EC: as an African-American busily picking cotton on the Democrat plantation your views are suspect, *as is your alleged and convenient friend "A."
The Dread Pundit Bluto | 06.27.07 - 3:00 pm | #
El Campeador accused me of burying my true feelings in a post with over 200 comments (Perspective 101 For Defeatists).

Wrong, EC, they're right here. If you expect to comment here and use your race as a crutch for a lack of reasoning ability, you've come to the wrong place.

I'm fed up with trying to explain things like "no snitching" and "reparations" and photoshopping conservative African Americans in minstrel blackface and social parasites like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to my kids, who didn't grow up watching civil rights marches and race riots on TV. You've got the big, fat, vulgar mouth, EC. You do it for me.

* El Campeador suddenly remembered an expatriate Iraqi friend he calls "A" as a useful tool to buttress his arguments.

Road Trip Necessary

I feel the need to oppress the masses with a golfing expedition. The Cherry Valley Golf Course near Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania has been recommended as a challenging and exciting course.

The choice of venue has absolutely nothing to do with this alleged incident:
Stroudsburg Area Regional Police are investigating complaints of a private golf outing featuring lap dance stations, threesomes and naked women at the Cherry Valley Golf Course on Monday.
Nor with this alleged photo of the alleged incident (note that a ball-washer is nearby):

Unholy Alliance: Democratic Operatives and the Press

Associate Press "journalist" Travis Loller has apparently used Democratic talking points circulated in email by several politicians as the basis for this attack piece on Republican Fred Thompson.

The Associated Press should not be surprised, unless they hired Loller without bothering to check her history. Since the story ran in multiple outlets yesterday, John Hinderaker of Power Line has identified Ms. Loller as "...a left-wing activist. Mother Jones described her as a 'radical.'"

Target Rich Environment compares the Democratic talking points with the text of the AP story:
1. DNC talking point: “In his most recent stint in Washington, Thompson worked for a London company lobbying Congress to limit liability claims for asbestos-related illnesses. Over the past three years he’s made $760,000 fighting for the interests of his corporate clients.

“AP/CNN talking point: ”More recently, while Frist led the Senate, Thompson earned more than $750,000 lobbying for a British reinsurance company that wanted to limit its liability from asbestos lawsuits.

2. DNC Talking Point: “And just this month, as part of his role as the ultimate Washington insider, Thompson offered to host yet another fundraising event for Scooter Libby’s legal defense fund. Thompson has been vocal in his support of Libby, saying that he would “absolutely” pardon him.”

AP/CNN Talking Point: “Thompson also helped run the Scooter Libby Legal Defense Fund Trust, an organization that set out to raise more than $5 million to help finance the legal defense of Vice President Dick Cheney’s former chief of staff, who was convicted in March of lying and obstructing Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald’s investigation into the leak of a CIA operative’s identity.”
Meanwhile, Democrats like John Kerry are working to resurrect the Fairness Doctrine in order to stifle anyone who isn't in lockstep with their political doctrine.

Perspective 101 for Defeatists

Updated and bumped: 6/26 - still waiting for an honest leftist to comment.

Bumped, because it has generated so much interest, and, so far, baffled the leftists who have commented but don't have the intellectual orientation to understand the point of the chart.

Updated, because I had neglected to indicate the duration (45 months) of US military operations - note that the WWII average monthly casualty rate is shorter, to reflect the timescale on the original Appeal For Courage chart. The visual scale for number of casualties was and is the same.

A couple of weeks ago I posted this chart, from the active-duty service members' petition, the Appeal For Courage. It contrasts monthly deaths in Iraq with those during Vietnam.

My son, an engineering student at RIT and always interested in hard data, suggested adding the monthly deaths from World War II to the chart. Unfortunately, while I was able to locate total casualty figures, no one seems to have broken them out by month. Perhaps the journalists of the time were less interested in destroying the American public's morale than they are now.

Thus, I've been forced to add a monthly average. 405,399 total American deaths average to 9009 per month for the 45 months that the US was involved in WWII combat operations.

This is how it compares to the wars in Vietnam and Iraq:

Sacrifice

In the long, long thread about the chart showing monthly casualties from Iraq, Vietnam, and WWII, commenter "B" expresses her displeasure that I have mentioned my Transportation Security Administration service as evidence that I'm willing to make sacrifices for the country. I wrote about it after being challenged by other anti-American lefty trolls to prove that I'm willing to do more than put a magnet on my car.

Serving as a human bomb detector for thousands of dollars less per year than I made in the private sector, in an organization run in para-military style was a privilege and an honor, and I will not apologize for it, or shut up about it, to please any partisan troll.

For reasons unknown, "B" thinks I should be ashamed of this occupation. "B" thinks I should never mention that left I my family for months to train screeners at American airports. Or that my right knee had to be replaced as a consequence of this service.

Somehow, "B" thinks patriotism is best expressed by working for lunatic fringe groups like MoveOn.org, an organization that has never come to grips with the Supreme Court's (and the people's) rejection of Al Gore's attempted 2000 coup d'etat. "B" thinks that using news of casualties to do the work that al Qaeda can't do for itself is patriotic. "B" believes that, well, I'm not sure what "B" believes, or how she sleeps at night.

But our opinions definitely diverge on the nature of sacrifice.

And I think "B"'s comments explain how people who claim to cherish and support the American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who go into harm's way can talk themselves into invalidating absentee ballots from those same American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines.

UPI Seeks to Legitimize 9/11 Terrorist Attack

Apparently, United Press International no longer considers the 9/11 attacks to be "terrorist" acts:
NEW YORK, June 21 (UPI) -- The number of FBI prosecutions for non-terror prosecutions have fallen since the guerrilla attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, federal data shows.
That's right, the most barbarous act of terror in history is now a "guerilla" operation. It would seem that UPI has hired professional ass-nugget Ward "Little Eichmanns" Churchill as an editor.

By referring to the September 11 terror attacks as "guerilla attacks," UPI lends an air of legitimacy to the twisted Islamists responsible.

Expect this Story and Reporter to Be Buried Quickly

Aptly named MSNBC reporter Bill Dedman reveals the unsurprising fact that many "journalists" are on the rolls of political donors:
MSNBC.com identified 144 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 17 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties.
Another unsurprising fact: today's journalism doesn't require much in the way of intelligence - so long as one's political beliefs are suitably leftist - many of the donors didn't just give to candidates, but to lunatic fringe organizations like MoveOn.org, and many don't understand why it's a big deal.

Jimmy Carter's Middle Name: 'Consistency'

President Peanut wants the civilized world to cater to terrorists and ignore what passes for moderation among the Palestinians:
DUBLIN, Ireland (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter accused the U.S., Israel and the European Union on Tuesday of seeking to divide the Palestinian people by reopening aid to President Mahmoud Abbas' new government in the West Bank while denying the same to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
But Jimmuh is consistent; worst President ever, worst ex-President ever.

ABC Reports Suicide Bombers Sent to Europe, US

The question is, of course, is it a real threat or propaganda?
Large teams of newly trained suicide bombers are being sent to the United States and Europe, according to evidence contained on a new videotape obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com.

Teams assigned to carry out attacks in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Germany were introduced at an al Qaeda/Taliban training camp graduation ceremony held June 9.
ABC and the rest of the mainstream media will decide based on whether a real threat or a bluff best suits their political agenda. Expect opinion polls on the issue to be conducted shortly.

For Father’s Day

Once, when I was small, my father taught me something useless. I had seen the old photographs and held the medals in my hand. Purple Heart and Bronze Star. I had been clamoring for stories of what he did in that war. What kind of guns did he shoot? Did he get to use his bayonet? How many Japs did he kill?

But he taught me something useless instead. He taught me how to figure out the firing order for an 18 cylinder aircraft engine. I had a pretty dim understanding of what cylinders did in an engine (I was only seven years old, after all), but I listened and I learned. Somehow I forgot about the war while we talked.

Sometimes he would tell me about his buddies from boot camp – the slim, smiling young men in the old photographs. I especially loved the story of the brawl they started one night in a bar, and how he escaped the Shore Patrol by slipping out through a bathroom window. And his friend who took him for a ride in a Corsair, a single seat fighter. They took out the radio gear to make room for my dad behind the pilot’s seat. The Corsair went into a dive so steep and fast that my father blacked out for a few seconds.

As I grew older my dad did share some of his darker memories with me. It was very different from what I had read in books and seen in movies. I began to catch a glimpse of the pride and terror of combat Marines, how they clung to each other as brothers, facing unimaginable horrors in a violent and pitiless crucible.

He described the queer, queasy feeling he got in the pit of his stomach, diving “ass over teakettle” into war as a tailgunner in a Dauntless Divebomber. And the queer, queasy feeling he got piloting a slow, ungainly Catalina PBY flying boat in a combat zone full of Japanese fighters. And the tight, heavy feeling in his stomach when he returned from a foot patrol near Yontan airfield on Okinawa, with only one other man of the ten who had left with him, and that man wounded and soon to die. He was seventeen when he enlisted. By the time he was nineteen he was a sergeant of Marines, and marked for life.

He was never strident. He didn’t raise his voice. He didn’t preach. He spoke of awful things in a flat voice and I knew the terrible price that had been paid by men like him in that struggle.

Many stories are told of the bond between father and son. Dramatic stories of courage, sacrifice, and impossible odds overcome by the power of a father’s love. But I think that bond shows its power most often in quiet, mundane ways. Like this:

1-8-15-4-11-18-7-14-3-10-17-6-13-2-9-16-5-12-1

That’s the firing order of a World War II vintage 18 cylinder aircraft engine - a bit of useless lore carried for decades as a token of love by the son, a symbol of that enduring bond, and a talisman for me to cling to and celebrate a life that ended years ago.

Happy Father's Day, Dad. I remember.

Nifong Says He'll Quit

From the Associated Press:
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Facing the loss of his law license, a tearful Mike Nifong said Friday he will resign as district attorney, more than a year after he obtained rape indictments against three Duke University lacrosse players who were later declared innocent by state prosecutors.
Not good enough. This behavior should land him behind bars:
The North Carolina State Bar said Nifong withheld DNA test results from the players' defense attorneys, lied to the court and bar investigators, and made misleading and inflammatory comments about the three athletes, who were cleared of charges they raped a stripper at a team party in March 2006.

Boston Globe: Dirty Jooos Causing Gaza Troubles

Not only does the editorial board of the Boston Globe question whether the Palestinian Civil War is really a civil war, they blame it on Israel:
The Hamas campaign to eradicate Fatah from Gaza is certainly not the sole cause of Gazans' misery. They long suffered from Israel's suffocating occupation, and then from Ariel Sharon's foolishly unilateral withdrawal in 2005, a move that allowed Hamas to bid for power with the misleading claim that its rockets and suicide bombings had driven Israeli soldiers and settlers out of Gaza. Gazans were victimized as well by the corruption and misrule of Yasser Arafat's Fatah cronies.
That's right, the Palestinian Civil War is not really the fault of the poor, victimized, innocent Palestinians who elected a terrorist organization as their government (and, by the way, ululated in joy when the Twin Towers fell), it's those evil Zionist pigs and monkeys.

There's only one thing to say to the Boston Globe's editorial board: SIEG HEIL!

Dem Leadership Attacking Military

Increasingly subservient to the Democrat lunatic fringe, Harry Reid has begun to include serving members of the armed forces in his verbal assaults, and, apparently, the MSM are helping him cover it up:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, "incompetent" during an interview Tuesday with a group of liberal bloggers, a comment that was never reported.

Reid made similar disparaging remarks about Army Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, said several sources familiar with the interview.
And Defense Secretary Robert Gates did not recommend Marine general Peter Pace for a second term as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff because of Democratic threats to smear the general.

Semper Fi

From an Op-Ed in the LA Times:
UNDER A sweltering Iraqi sky, the general [Lt. Gen. James N. Mattis] asked for questions from his troops. Many were reluctant, but one stepped forward.

Marine Lance Cpl. Jack Kessel, 19, of Raleigh, N.C., asked about something that had been gnawing at him as he and his buddies go about the dangerous business of winning hearts and minds in Al Anbar province.

"How are we supposed to fight a war when people back home say we've already lost?" he asked...

...Mattis told the Marines to believe their own eyes rather than news accounts on the issue of who is winning the war. Don't be discouraged by the politicians and pundits who haven't been to Iraq and don't understand, he said.

"Don't hold it against them," he said to Kessel and the others gathered at a base in Habbaniya. "The only reason they have that freedom of speech is because you'll fight for it."

Kessel nodded. "I understand now," he said later.
The Op-Ed also notes that re-enlistment rates are highest among Marines who have served tours in Iraq.

Dem Leaders Reaffirm Their Determination to Win War

CENTCOM Roundup

Because the mainstream media is invested in propagating only bad news from the War on Terror, here's the CENTCOM roundup of stories the mainstream media refuses to run.

FAILED TRUCK BOMBER TREATED, TALKING
CAMP STRIKER, IRAQ BAGHDAD - A failed truck bomber, wounded in his attempt to destroy a coalition battle position, was treated, evacuated and is providing information to those he tried to kill.

The driver of the truck bomb aimed at destroying Patrol Base Warrior Keep near Sadr al Yusufiyah on June 10 was wounded in the upper right leg, rendering him unable to activate his initiation switch or his explosive vest.

Alert Soldiers from Company B, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team manning the weapon systems at the patrol base determined his hostile intent and opened fire with an M-240B machine gun and M-4 assault rifles foiling the attack.

Soldiers from the patrol base then detained the man.

Seeing that the man was wounded, they rendered aid and evacuated him to the 31st Combat Support Hospital.

Coalition medical personnel continue to provide the man medical care. The man will be held for further questioning and prosecution.

Explosive ordnance teams continue to methodically render the explosives safe through multiple controlled detonations.
THREE MILITANTS DETAINED IN KHOWST
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan and Coalition forces conducted an operation in Nadir Shah Kot District in Khowst Province resulting in detention of three suspected militants.
No shots were fired and no civilians or detainees were injured in the operation.

Credible intelligence led the forces to the location of suspected members of an improvised explosive device cell in the Haqqani network.

The detainees will be questioned as to their involvement in militant activities.
ONE SECRET CELL TERRORIST KILLED, TWO DETAINED
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Coalition Forces killed one terrorist and detained two suspected terrorists during operations targeting secret cell network operations in Baghdad.

The individuals detained during the raid are believed to be members of the secret cell terrorist network known for facilitating the transport of weapons and explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, from Iran to Iraq, as well as bringing militants from Iraq to Iran for terrorist training.

During the course of the pre-dawn raids a vehicle drove toward Coalition Forces on the ground. Using appropriate escalation of force measures, Coalition Forces attempted to stop the vehicle. When the vehicle failed to stop, the ground force engaged the vehicle, killing the driver.

Based on information from a suspected terrorist detained June 9, Coalition Forces detained two suspected terrorists at the targeted location. These suspected terrorists are assessed to be associates of a secret cell key leader, the targeted individual of the morning raids.

Intelligence reports indicate the targeted individual of the morning's operation is associated with a kidnapping cell and is believed to be directly involved in the November Ministry of Health kidnappings.

Additionally, intelligence reports indicate that the targeted individual's cell specializes in the emplacement of improvised explosive devises and EFPs.

"We continue to hunt down and find the terrorists where they hide," said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson. "The targeted locations were the result of our efforts to root out the terrorists that seek to bring unrest and violence to Iraq."
FOUR DETAINED IN JOINT RAID
FORWARD OPERATING BASE HAMMER, Iraq - Soldiers from the 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment and the Iraqi National Police detained four men and confiscated bomb-making materials and rifles following a raid in northern Jisr Diyala, Monday.

The 3-1 Cavalry's Troop A and Time Sensitive Target Platoon Soldiers worked with an Iraqi National Police platoon, called the Lions of Wassit, to search locations insurgent forces were using as meeting sites and cache sites.

The unit conducted several raids to collect information and disrupt enemy activities preventing extremists from engaging Combat Outpost Assassin and FOB Rustamiyah, according to Capt. Troy Thomas, the plans officer for 3-1 Cavalry, from Litchfield, Minn.

"No one shot a rocket or a mortar at either location last night, that was a big thing," he said.

Thomas was also impressed with the performance of the Lions of Wassit.

"Every battalion in the Army should be lucky enough to have a platoon like the Lions to work with," said Thomas. "Those guys were well trained and disciplined. They did a great job."

The 3-1 Cavalry is assigned to the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, from Fort Benning, Ga.
IRAQI SECURITY FORCES THWART SUICIDE CAR BOMB ATTACK
KHAN BANI SA'AD, Iraq - Iraqi Security Forces successfully prevented a suicide car bomb attack on a Coalition Forces combat outpost in Khan Bani Sa'ad, located in Diyala province, June 12.

"I could not be more proud of the Iraqi Security Forces today,"
said Lt. Col. Marshall Dougherty, commander, 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.

"Troop B, 2-1 CAV lives and works in the combat outpost with the Iraqi Army Soldiers."

IA Soldiers received a tip and description of a potential suicide vehicle bomb and engaged the vehicle with small-arms fire as it approached the outpost causing the vehicle to detonate prematurely before it reached the outer perimeter.

Two CF Soldiers received minor wounds and were treated at the scene.

"The truly amazing thing is that the Iraqi Soldiers, who are mostly Shia, got the tip from local Sunnis, who had seen a suspicious vehicle driven by masked men traveling towards the outpost," said Dougherty.

"This is yet another example of the people of Iraq refusing to allow terrorists to destroy their lives," said Dougherty. "It was the citizen's tip that allowed the Iraqi Army to take charge and locate and destroy the SVBIED and its operator, potentially saving untold lives - Sunni, Shia and Coalition."

"Both Iraqi and Coalition Soldiers have worked very hard in the last several weeks engaging the local population to gain their trust and confidence," said Dougherty. "It's obvious that despite their tribal or ethnic differences, the people of Khan Bani Sa'ad have come to trust their Iraqi Security Forces and no longer will tolerate insurgent violence here. Today was a good day."
SIX EXTREMISTS KILLED, 19 OTHERS ARRESTED DURING OPERATIONS THROUGHOUT DIYALA
BAQOUBA, Iraq - The newly formed Diyala Operations Command in Baqouba reported today that Soldiers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 5th Iraqi Army and Coalition Forces from the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry killed five extremists, wounded eight and arrested 15 others during operations throughout Baqouba, June 12.

The engagement in Old Baqouba also netted two caches and a vehicle borne improvised explosive device.

Gunmen engaged IA and CF Soldiers with small arms fire from a building before a CF attack helicopter team, armed with Hellfire missiles, engaged the extremists and destroyed the building they were firing from.

Another gunman was killed when CF engaged his sniper position in the neighborhood of Mufrek, in Baqouba.

The caches discovered included approximately 200 pounds of home made explosives, numerous anti tank mines, mortar and artillery rounds, and other IED making materials.

The VBIED had a rocket propelled grenade inside, and according to local citizens, was rigged to explode. Two extremists were arrested
in the immediate area after testing positive for explosives. A
controlled explosion was carried out on the VBIED.
SUSPECTED AL QAEDA SNIPER DETAINED IN FALLUJAH; 16 SUSPECTED INSURGENTS DETAINED IN AL ANBAR PROVINCE
FALLUJAH - Iraqi Army Forces have detained a suspected al Qaeda in Iraq sniper allegedly responsible for the death of a U.S. Soldier and other attacks against Coalition Forces.

With Coalition Forces present as advisers, Iraqi soldiers detained their primary sniper suspect in the Jolan District of Fallujah during a raid June 10. Anti-Coalition Forces propaganda and numerous identification cards were also seized during the operation.

The suspect, who is alleged to be a member of an al Qaeda in Iraq sniper cell operating out of Fallujah, is believed to have killed a U.S. Soldier from a rooftop during a 2006 attack on Coalition Forces in Fallujah. He is also the primary suspect in a sniper attack against a Coalition Forces tractor-trailer which occurred in Fallujah earlier this year.

In a separate operation, Iraqi Army Forces completed an operation June 9 detaining 16 suspected insurgents allegedly responsible for supporting al Qaeda in Iraq activities in the Rawah area.

With Coalition Forces present as advisers, Iraqi Soldiers detained the suspects without incident at a residence in the vicinity of Al Watah, located east of Rawah in the Jazirah Desert. Two AK-47 assault rifles and two pistols were also seized during the operation.

The detained individuals are allegedly responsible for facilitating foreign fighters, conducting anti-Iraqi Forces activities and aiding al Qaeda in Iraq leaders in the Al Watah area.

No Iraqi or Coalition Forces were injured during these
operations.

Lieberman: Bomb Iran

Joe Lieberman has a solution to the problem of Iranians killing American troops:
"I think we've got to be prepared to take aggressive military action against the Iranians to stop them from killing Americans in Iraq," the Connecticut independent said during an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation." "And to me, that would include a strike over the border into Iran, where we have good evidence that they have a base at which they are training these people coming back into Iraq to kill our soldiers."

Mr. Lieberman, who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, recently returned from a trip to the region and said there is evidence that "as many as 200 American soldiers" have been killed by Iranians and Iranian-trained forces. Mr. Lieberman remained firm when asked whether he was suggesting strikes against Iran.

"I am. And I want to make clear I'm not talking about a massive ground invasion of Iran, but we have good evidence," he said. "If they don't play by the rules, we've got to use our force and to me that would include taking military action to stop them from doing what they're doing."
Too bad Joe Lieberman owns the only pair of balls in the Democrat party. Oh wait, they kicked him out of the Democrat party for failure to subordinate patriotism to partisanship, didn't they?

Each Fried Felon Saves Up to 18 Victims

This is news that death penalty foes don't want to hear. A series of studies over the past six years all lead to the conclusion that the death penalty has a deterrent effect:
Among the conclusions:

• Each execution deters an average of 18 murders, according to a 2003 nationwide study by professors at Emory University. (Other studies have estimated the deterred murders per execution at three, five and 14).

• The Illinois moratorium on executions in 2000 led to 150 additional homicides over four years following, according to a 2006 study by professors at the University of Houston.

• Speeding up executions would strengthen the deterrent effect. For every 2.75 years cut from time spent on death row, one murder would be prevented, according to a 2004 study by an Emory University professor.
Of course, we could save even more lives by using organs from convicted felons for transplants.

Anti American Hacker/Spammer Attacks Jawa

You may have noticed problems accessing The Jawa Report and Jawa comments. We have been under a sustained heavy spam/DDOS since Friday.

I posted an email a terrorist thread earlier in the week. What prompted the post was a new Islamic spam email promoting and English translation of a Spiegel interview with al-Qaeda that has a French Yahoo email but originated from Germany.

So the next time I received the spam I struck up a discussion with the spammer/terrorist propagandist. Turns out he's quite a prolific spammer, hacker, and bot-net propagator

Just after our “discussion” the spam volume at TJR overwhelmed our comment system and had us completely offline on Saturday Morning. Coincidence? I think not. I’m sure since comments have been offline there are quite a few of you with pent up feelings you would like to get off your chest. I feel it is appropriate that we express our gratitude for this attack on The Jawa Report.
cipdtf@yahoo.fr
This email is live I promise because he replied to me several times but stopped just before our site was attacked. I also can’t shake the suspicion that cipdtf is our resident Spam Bastard who has been spamming Jawa comments for some time.

Here is the GIMF spam in question, I’d advise against visiting his site as there may be nefarious software present there, but if you are into that kind of thing and willing to take the risk…

(note: I have been unable to go there, I’m not sure if he took it down or if my filters blocking him)

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are proud to present you the latest interview from the GIMF, the Global Islamic Media Front:

This interview is not satire! It is 100% true! We had to translate it from
German. But we didn't add, delete or change anything.

As we are all young and non-European, the questions have been more interesting andmore intelligent than the questions usually asked by traditional media. For instance:What do you think about Paris Hilton? What movies do you watch? Or do you really believe in the 40 virgins?

However, some questions were more conventional. One example: Are the US in danger of further attacks?

About us: We have a satirical Ivorian(Côte d'Ivoire) website. And we are usually fighting hate and racism in our own country. But from time to time we are also dealing with international topics. And as we had a lot of problems with Lobbyist in the past –in the US, even our Christian politicians were described as "pro-Al Quaida" - and as things seem to go very bad in Iraq, in Afghanistan and even in Europe, we thought that it would be a good idea to interview the GIMF.

Of course, we don't support international terrorism!

Respectfully yours,

"Jacques KOULIBALY"
Hmmm, so just who is Jacques KOULIBALY? First off he calls his organization, “"The Ivorian Committee for Peace and the Total Destruction of France." It appears another of his victims has already figured that one out.
link truncated: Jean Marc Liotier and Jacques Koulibaly) which report/ratio? Jean Marc Liotier is the owner of the site http://www.ruwenzori.net and Jacques Koulibaly (made up nickname starting from Jacques Chirac and of Mamadou Koulibaly) is that which signs the articles of http://cipdtf.ruwenzori.net. Are the two characters different or one is the shade of the other?
So I did some more searching on cipdtf. I’m not sure that cipdtf is part of GIMF. He seems to use spam to generate links to almost anything in order to draw traffic and attempt to increase his zombie machine network. He is also saunchly anti-American and calls his group, “young and non-Europeans.” I found some quotes attributed to copdtf here’s one.
Link truncated for appearance: I have today reached the opinion that I don't think anymore that Hitler was bad, or that Milosevic was bad. Because the same media (International radio-stations like BBC, Voice of America, RFI, etc) that presented Hitler and Milosevic as criminals, are now presenting me and the Ivorian Patriots who suffer from the rebellion, like hangmen, though it is us who are suffering from the rebels."
See bad is good and good is bad. Cifdtf may not be directly related to GIMF. I have a feeling he is just taking advantage of GIMF and Paris Hilton to drum up some traffic. Regardless he is bad apple and obviously sympathizes with the terrorist’s cause, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” But if I were the authority looking into the explosion of GIMF terrorist propaganda from Germany this would be a good place to start. He has all the skills that an organization like GIMF would need.

Amnesty Bill Defeated...For Now

The wildly unpopular immigration bill before the Senate, which would have granted legal status to millions of illegal aliens and drew criticism from both sides of the aisle, appears to have been defeated, at least for now:
WASHINGTON (AP) - A broad immigration bill to legalize millions of people in the U.S. unlawfully failed a crucial test vote Thursday, a stunning setback that could spell its defeat for the year.

The vote was 45-50 against limiting debate on the bill, 15 short of the 60 that the bill's supporters needed to prevail. Most Republicans voted to block Democrats' efforts to bring the bill to a final vote.
The bill has been sprinkled with Holy Water. Now we just need someone to drive a stake through its vile, black heart.

'Iran Caught Red-Handed Shipping Arms to Taliban'

From ABC News' The Blotter:
NATO officials say they have caught Iran red-handed, shipping heavy arms, C4 explosives and advanced roadside bombs to the Taliban for use against NATO forces, in what the officials say is a dramatic escalation of Iran's proxy war against the United States and Great Britain.
Well, what did anyone expect of a barbaric regime that came to power through acts of terrorism and the rejection of all civilized codes of behavior? One correction: the proxy war is not merely against the US and the UK. It is against Western civilization as a whole.

Charges Dropped in Police Dog Gurning Incident

A drunken woman makes faces at a police dog and gets arrested! Luckily, a prosecutor steps in and drops the charge:
CHELSEA, Vt. (AP) - A prosecutor has dropped charges against a woman who was arrested for staring at and making faces at a police dog.
"Prosecuting a woman for `staring' at a police dog is absurd," said her lawyer. "People are allowed to make faces at police dogs and officers to express their disapproval. It's constitutional expression," said public defender Kelly Green, who represented Jayna Hutchinson.
Disorderly conduct, public intoxication? Sure. Animal cruelty for allegedly upsetting a dog by making faces at it? C'mon.

Gurning, for those unfamiliar with the...sport.

JFK Terror Plot Suspect Implicates Trinidadian Radicals

Court documents show that one of the accused JFK plotters caught in Trinidad has implicated a Trinidadian black Sunni Muslim organization in the plot:
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) - A Trinidadian suspect in an alleged plot to ignite a fuel pipeline feeding New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport once belonged to a radical Islamist group here, a spokesman for the group said.
Kala Aki Bua said Wednesday that 56-year-old Kareem Ibrahim cut his ties to Jamaat al Muslimeen in the late 1970s. He repeated the group's denial of any connection to the suspects who allegedly traveled to Trinidad and Tobago to seek the group's blessing and support
One of the other men arrested, Abdel Nur, reportedly cited a much more recent meeting:
But according to the documents, Nur said he met in May with the group's leader, Yasin Abu Bakr, at his compound and the Islamic leader suggested that he return later with others involved "to discuss the plan in detail."

Debate Over Embryonic Stem Cells May Be Over

Three different groups of researchers reprotedly have announced that they have successfully reprogrammed normal skin cells in mice to an embryonic state. They are now working to apply the technique to human cells:
If researchers succeed, it will make it relatively easy to produce cells that seem indistinguishable from embryonic stem cells, and that are genetically matched to individual patients. There are limits to how useful and safe these would be for therapeutic use in the near term, but they should quickly prove a boon in the lab.

"It would change the way we see things quite dramatically," says Alan Trounson of Monash University in Victoria, Australia. Trounson wasn't involved in the new work but says he plans to start using the technique "tomorrow". "I can think of a dozen experiments right now — and they're all good ones," he says.

In theory, embryonic stem cells can propagate themselves indefinitely and are able to become any type of cell in the body. But so far, the only way to obtain embryonic stem cells involves destroying an embryo, and to get a genetic match for a patient would mean, in effect, cloning that person — all of which raise difficult ethical questions.

At Least They're Honest...Now

This stunning admission came during the Haifa Radio Conference on Monday:
Dr. Chanan Naveh, who edited the Israel Broadcasting Authority radio's news desk in late 1990's and early 2000's, was particularly bombastic about his pervasive reach: "The morning audience, stuck in traffic jams or at work, is simply captive - they're ours." He also mentioned, with no regrets, two examples in which he and his colleagues made a concerted effort to change public opinion:

"Three broadcasters - Carmela Menashe, Shelly Yechimovich [now a Labor party Knesset Member - ed.], and I - pushed in every way possible the withdrawal from Lebanon towards 2000. In our newsroom, three of the editors had sons in Lebanon, and we took it upon ourselves as a mission - possibly not stated - to get the IDF out of Lebanon... I have no doubt that we promoted an agenda of withdrawal that was a matter of public dispute."
At this point, Army Radio broadcaster Golan Yochpaz interrupted, "In my opinion, that is just super-problematic - super-problematic." Naveh did not miss a beat and said, "Correct, I'm admitting it, I'm not apologizing, I'm just saying this is what happened. It came from our guts because of the boys in Lebanon, this is what we did and I'm not sorry... I am very proud that we had a part in getting of our sons out of Lebanon."
What did they gain by becoming propagandists for the enemy? The opportunity for other people's sons to die:
It is widely accepted that the withdrawal from Lebanon in May 2000 under then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak and the lack of attention paid to the northern border since then led to the Second Lebanon War of last summer and its accompanying 160 military and civilian casualties.
But, at least they're being honest now about their dishonesty then - something that American journalists would RATHER not do.

F-ck Yeah, F-ck the FCC, and F-ck Your Bourgeois Mores!

The f-cking sh-theaded 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that a--hole foreign f-cks like Bono can say whatever the f-ck they want, whenever the f-ck they want, and the FCC can go pound salt up their big fat f-cking a--es!
In a majority opinion written by Judge Rosemary Pooler, the appeals court said all speech covered by the FCC's indecency policy is fully protected by the First Amendment.
Those of us in Upstate New York remember Rosemary Pooler as a stupid f-cking c-nt whose fat a-- the NYC Dems tried to get elected for years before putting the incompetent, retarded f-cking tw-t on the Federal bench. But we were wrong, because now Rosemary has helped give us the right to shout F-CK YOU! to each and every toddler who displeases us. And if you think this will somehow coarsen the culture - F-CK YOU, TOO you f-ckin' bourgie trash a--hole!

Truthers in the UK

Not to be outdone in lunacy by the Colonies, Great Britain has developed its own version of the 9/11 "Truth Movement," that collection of slack-jawed morons who believe that 9/11 was all a government plot with a cast thousands, none of whom have leaked to this day. Across the pond, Muslims are leading the new Truther charge that the 7/7 suicide bombings were a "fix," as well.

20-30 Taliban Killed by Coalition, 60 Drowned by Allah

US helicopters and Coalition ground forces took out twenty or thirty brave Taliban babyhunters frantically running away from a battle:
KABUL (Reuters) - U.S.-led coalition and Afghan forces have killed up to 30 Taliban fighters as they tried to escape on a boat from a battle in southern Afghanistan, an Afghan government spokesman said on Tuesday.
The God of Abraham took care of a few dozen more:
At the weekend, 60 Taliban were drowned when another boat capsized in an accident in the same river, he said. Helmand province has been the scene of bloody clashes in recent months.

Scarborough Asks if Fred Thompson's Wife is a Stripper

That's what, "Ya think she works the pole?" means. Or so I've been told by...other men, who have actually been inside ecdysiastical-type establishments. It's okay, though 'cause Fred is a Republican. I wonder what would happen if Scarborough had said this about, oh, I don't know, Barack Obama's wife?

The Chinese communists brutally suppressed the Tiananmen Square uprising:
BEIJING (Reuters) - Beijing's Tiananmen Square was quiet on Monday, the 18th anniversary of the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators, while a rights group said people were still behind bars for supporting the protests.

People's Liberation Army troops and tanks crushed the student-led demonstrations in the historic square on June 4, 1989, killing hundreds, possibly thousands.

Moonbats in Defense of Kennedy Plotters, Conspiracy Theories

The TSA blog explains the avantage of aggressive defense (emphasis added):
For more than a year, there has been a tightly coordinated effort led by the FBI that also involved law enforcement, the intelligence community, DHS components including TSA and CBP, as well as international partners. Within TSA, the office of Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service, Intelligence and Security Operations were actively involved. This coordinated effort shows once again that the best way to stop terrorist attacks is to break them up before they become operational.
Leftists, however, even in the face of overwhelming contradictory evidence, prefer to see shadowy government/mass media conspiracies:

Kennedy Airport Terrorist Hoax:
In all cases the alleged plot was technically not feasable [sic]. The plotters lacked the knowledge needed to harm their alleged target. They didn't have the materials needed.
The Learning Curve For Sensational Terror Plots:
So it’s striking who constituted the cast of characters for Saturday’s news conference to hype the JFK plot. It’s not even clear to me who can be said to have presided over the event. So I give it to you alphabetically, by last name: Michael Balboni (New York’s Deputy Secretary to the Governor for Public Security), New York Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, U.S. Attorney Roslynn Mauskopf and Mark J. Mershon (Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s New York field office).

JFK Airport 'Plot' Fuels Concern About Spread Of Extremism Entrapment:
The Caribbean and Latin American links of people charged in an alleged plot to blow up [a fuel line leading to] New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport underscores the spread of global extremism [FBI entrapment], analysts said on Sunday.

This is a Bad Idea

The 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York has announced that it will start holding one monthly memorial service, instead of individual services for soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. A base spokesman says that the change is for scheduling reasons, and doesn't indicate an increase in the number of casualties.

The reason for the change doesn't matter because this is a bad move. Each soldier and his or her family have made a unique sacrifice, more than worthy of individual recognition.

Dog Bites Man

From the Washington Times:
Commencement addresses at the nation's top colleges and universities this year mostly were given by left-leaning or Democratic speakers with few conservatives snagging the honor, according to a report released yesterday by the Young America's Foundation.

The conservative group conducts the review each year using the U.S. News & World Report ranking of top schools. This year, it found left-leaning speakers outnumbered conservatives by a ratio of 8-to-1.
Which answers the age-old question: Why can't Johnny think?

SIX TERRORISTS KILLED, VBIED DESTROYED, 18 SUSPECTS DETAINED
North of Fallujah Thursday afternoon, Coalition Forces conducted an operation to capture suspected terrorists allegedly associated with al-Qaeda senior leadership. Coalition Forces attempted to stop their vehicle, but when the suspected terrorists resisted, Coalition Forces used proper escalation of force measures and engaged the vehicle with automatic weapons, killing three men.

Inside the vehicle, Coalition Forces found two mortar rounds, a rifle and an approximately 100-pound improvised explosive device. The vehicle and heavy explosives were safely destroyed on site.

While Coalition Forces were at the scene, they received small arms fire from a nearby orchard. Taking appropriate self-defense measures, the ground forces engaged the armed terrorists, killing three. Coalition Forces also found grenades and assault vests in the orchard.

In a follow-on operation Friday morning, Coalition Forces detained one suspected terrorist in a building north of Fallujah for his alleged ties to al-Qaeda senior leaders.

Also Friday, Coalition Forces targeted an al-Qaeda in Iraq commander allegedly involved in IED attacks against Iraqi and Coalition Forces southwest of Baghdad Friday morning. Ten suspected terrorists were detained for their ties to the senior leader.

Two coordinated operations in Taji targeted an al-Qaeda senior leader and his network. Coalition Forces detained seven individuals linked to a group allegedly responsible for mortar and rocket attacks against Coalition Forces; IED and vehicle-borne IED attacks across western Baghdad; and the bombing of the Sarafiyah bridge.

""We're continuing to target al-Qaeda in Iraq, and these terrorists are failing to evade us," said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson. "The kill or capture of terrorists gives the people of Iraq the opportunity to build a peaceful country where deadly terrorists do not exist."
THREE SUSPECTED TERRORISTS CAPTURED
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi and Coalition Forces detained three suspected terrorists during operations in central and eastern Iraq Thursday morning.

Iraqi and Coalition Forces detained two individuals in Sadr City during the first raid. They are believed to be members of the secret cell terrorist network known for facilitating the transport of weapons and explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, from Iran to Iraq, as well as bringing militants from Iraq to Iran for terrorist training.

Intelligence reports indicate one of the targeted individuals detained during the operation is suspected of providing facilitation and logistic support for trafficking weapons used in operations against Coalition Forces.

In a separate raid in Khanaqin, Coalition Forces captured a suspected liaison to al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leaders, who assists in the movement of information and documents from al-Qaeda in Iraq leadership in Baghdad to al-Qaeda senior leaders in Iran.

"We're methodically disrupting terrorist networks in Iraq, and will continue to break down these networks so Iraqis can secure their own future," said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson.
10TH MOUNTAIN, 1ST ACB DESTROY ENEMY URBAN ASSAULT VEHICLE
CAMP STRIKER, IRAQ - A team of Apache attack helicopter pilots discovered and destroyed a heavily armed vehicle south of Radwaniyah at about 8:10 a.m., May 30.

The Apache team from the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade observed the vehicle near a reed line of a canal. The vehicle had a heavy machine gun mount attached to the bed of the truck and re-enforced sidewalls with gun ports.

After coordinating with the 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain tactical operations center, an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with a camera was flown over the truck to observe the area. Once confirming the target and ensuring there were no civilians in the immediate area, the brigade authorized the helicopters to engage the truck.

The Apaches fired two Hellfire missiles and destroyed the vehicle.

No civilians were injured.
IRAQI SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCES DETAIN SUSPECTED JAM COMMANDER IN BAGHDAD RAID
BAGHDAD - Iraqi Special Operations Forces apprehended a Jaysh al-Mahdi commander during an early morning raid in Kadamiyah, a central suburb of Baghdad May 30. The target of this operation is alleged to be responsible for providing financial, logistical, and political support for multiple insurgent groups and terrorist organizations.

The individual is also suspected of managing operations to murder and intimidate local Iraqis and ordering several attacks on Coalition Forces. The alleged commander is also suspected of overseeing the training of insurgent recruits on terrorist methods including the construction and detonation of Improvised Explosive Devices and Explosively Formed Projectiles.

Acting on tips from the local population, Iraqi forces raided a house where the suspect was believed to be residing and detained him without incident.

No ISOF or Coalition Forces were harmed in the operation.
