Curiouser and Curiouser
I have such fond memories of Curious George, the innocent, guileless little monkey that so exasperated the Man in the Yellow Hat. Look at him there, what better vehicle to get children really interested in reading?
Here's George in space - no fear, just that childlike wonder that kids everywhere can identify with, and that has sustained his stories for better than 65 years.
When I heard they were making a movie version of Curious George, it rekindled those memories of learning to read something a bit more challenging and a great deal more interesting than the Dick and Jane books. And how could they screw up Curious George, the personification of innocence (and mischief)?
Well they did. Look at movie George's eyes. He's been animatronicked, Disneyfied, turned into a soulless Stepford monkey.
Oh my God, his eyes. Those bastards.
