Let's Do the Timewarp Again!

Quick, somebody rescue US Representative John Conyers (D-Fantasy Island) from the twisted region of space-time he apparently inhabits.

Included in H.R. 1592 is this, frankly, bizarre paragraph:
(7) For generations, the institutions of slavery and involuntary servitude were defined by the race, color, and ancestry of those held in bondage. Slavery and involuntary servitude were enforced, both prior to and after the adoption of the 13th amendment to the Constitution of the United States, through widespread public and private violence directed at persons because of their race, color, or ancestry, or perceived race, color, or ancestry. Accordingly, eliminating racially motivated violence is an important means of eliminating, to the extent possible, the badges, incidents, and relics of slavery and involuntary servitude.
Did somebody declare the Emancipation Proclamation unconstitutional? Are American blacks being shanghaied into slavery? Why aren't the MSM hacks reporting this, and what else are they concealing from us?

It's possible, I suppose, that Conyers is thinking of those African-Americans who sometimes stray off the Democrat Political Plantation. You know, the folks branded as "race traitors," or "Uncle Toms" for the crime of thinking for themselves. Perhaps he wants to end the enslavement of over ninety percent of America's black population by the liberal propaganda machine, but I doubt it.

In any case, President Bush will likely veto Conyers' bill.
