NYS Gov Spitzer Drops Idiotic Illegal Immigrant Licensing Scheme

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer is dropping a controversial plan to issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants because of overwhelming opposition to the policy, The New York Times reported on Tuesday.

I've never been sure just where Spitzer came up with this crack-brained idea, or why he kept pushing it in the face of overwhelming public opposition, but at least it served a valuable purpose.
