Giuliana Sgrena: Eason Jordan's Legacy

Idiot Italian "Journalist" Accuses US of Targeting Her
Giuliana Sgrena, the Italian communist whose car was fired on by US troops as it approached a checkpoint at a high rate of speed and disregarded multiple warnings, is speculating that American troops fired on her deliberately, under orders. From Yahoo News:
"The fact that the Americans don't want negotiations to free the hostages is known," Sgrena told Sky TG24 television by telephone, her voice hoarse and shaky. "The fact that they do everything to prevent the adoption of this practice to save the lives of people held hostages, everybody knows that. So I don't see why I should rule out that I could have been the target."
Sgrena is postulating a conspiracy that would involve hundreds of US soldiers from command level down to privates. It is patently ridiculous, and Sgrena's irresponsible accusations cannot be excused because she is "shaky". This is the door that Eason Jordan opened with his own irresponsible statements accusing US troops of deliberately targeting journalists. While Sgrena isn't really a journalist, she thinks she is, so feels free to make the charge.

While we're in the realm of speculation, I'd like to see an investigation of Sgrena and her ilk; the leftist "reporters" who are allegedly being abducted and released without any ransom or demands being met. It would not surprise me to find out that the abductions are fakes, and that these people are colluding with terrorist groups. We know that the so-called insurgents allow certain members of the press to videotape them shooting RPGs and setting off IEDs. Why not go the extra step and fake abductions, both to enhance the careers of hacks like Sgrena, and to garner sympathetic publicity for the terrorists?
