A Year of Blogging
It's been a year now since I began this blog (actually, it's been a year and ten days, but there were ten days I didn't blog for one reason or another). Thanks to everyone who's visited and all the bloggers and MSMers who have cited The Dread Pundit Bluto.
Beginning around 1989 or 90 I witnessed the profound changes that the computer revolution wrought on the printing and publishing industry. Whole professions were eliminated, seemingly overnight - the only "strippers" now work the pole; it used to be a legitimate job title in the printing business. I still remember setting type by hand and by eye, with a pasteup board and an exacto knife. The smart folks adapted and welcomed the changes.
And beginning right around the turn of the century, I've witnessed the Internet revolutionize journalism. No longer do a few talking heads and big city editors hold unquestioned monopoly on what the news is going to be. The smart ones are adapting and welcoming the changes.
