Freshman Senator Raises Bar For DemSpeak, Creates New Military Tactic
Democratic senator Jim Webb has set a brilliant new standard for doubletalk in his reply to President Bush's State of the Union speech:
As our military performs this unique evolution, our politicians are to speak loudly while flagellating themselves with small sticks.
"Not one step back from the war against international terrorism. Not a precipitous withdrawal that ignores the possibility of further chaos," said Webb. "But an immediate shift toward strong regionally based diplomacy, a policy that takes our soldiers off the streets of Iraq's cities and a formula that will in short order allow our combat forces to leave Iraq."So, Senator Webb would have a "withdrawal" that is not "one step back." We are to withdraw forward by retreating but not taking one backwards step while shifting away from the front. It's called the "moonwalk."
As our military performs this unique evolution, our politicians are to speak loudly while flagellating themselves with small sticks.
