21 Senior Citizens Killed In Lake George Tragedy

Twenty-one senior citizens were killed when their tour boat capsized on Lake George, a tourist area on I-87 about 50 miles north of Albany, New York. The lake was reportedly calm. Officials suspect that the boat was affected by the wake of a larger vessel.

From the Associated Press via Yahoo!News:
The glass-enclosed Ethan Allen was carrying tourists from Michigan on a fall foliage tour when it capsized shortly before 3 p.m. The accident on Lake George may have occurred when the boat was hit by the wake of a larger vessel, Warren County Sheriff Larry Cleveland said.

"We haven't ruled anything out yet," Cleveland said.
As you can see, the Ethan Allen is a very small tour boat. Several larger sightseeing vessels run regularly on Lake George.

Pictured below is the Mohican, operated by a different cruise company. Though it isn't to the same scale as the Ethan Allen photo above, you can tell that this is a much larger vessel. The Mohican has not been implicated in the Ethan Allen capsizing and is shown only to give you an idea of the relative size of the tour boats plying Lake George.
