Hurricane Wilma, Will the MSM Get it Right This Time?

With Hurricane Wilma bearing down on Florida, some are pointing out the shamefully incompetent coverage the MSM provided of Hurricane Katrina. Coverage that continues to "inform" the most gullible of our politically active citizens.

Ed Morrissey at Captain's Quarters writes about the little-known fact that rich areas of New Orleans also suffered; and that affluent people were among the dead.

"South Park" takes a vicious swipe at network coverage of Katrina. NewsBusters highlights the latest episode with a partial transcript of the show:
Mitch: “We’re not sure what’s exactly is going on inside the town of Beaverton, Tom, but we’re reporting that there’s looting, raping and, yes, even acts of cannibalism.”

Tom: “My God, you’ve actually seen people looting, raping and eating each other?!”

Mitch: “No, no we’ve haven’t actually seen it, Tom. We’re just reporting it.”
And J.J. at OhMyLaundry! rolls Katrina coverage into a larger discussion of hyperbole in journalism (the post is dated 9/30, but Technorati swears it's only 11 hours old).
