High Priests of Global Warming Demand Supreme Sacrifice

The task of cutting greenhouse gas emissions enough to avert a dangerous rise in global temperatures may be far more difficult than previous research suggested, say scientists who have just published studies indicating that it would require the world to cease carbon emissions altogether within a matter of decades.

There you have it. All we really need is a nice cleansing plague to wipe the infection of human existence from our suffering planet. Perhaps a few suitably enlightened specimens of homo sapiens could be maintained in a carefully controlled environment.

The scientists are using computer models to come to their conclusions. Just like the scientists who warned us about Global Cooling in the 1970s.
