Zarqawi's Keystone Jihadis
US Special Forces in Iraq have captured cutting room floor video that al Qaeda terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi would have preferred didn't get out. Portions of the videotape released show Zarqawi handing weapons clumsily and his associates burning themselves on hot automatic weapons barrels.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is seen as a less-than-accomplished gunman on a "complete" version of last week's Web video, according to a U.S. military commander. Not surprising, considering that Zarqawi's most effective tactic is to convince gullible Islamists to sacrifice themselves, rather than putting himself in any avoidable immediate danger.
Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch on Thursday showed excerpts of the full video, found in a raid in Yusufiya south of Baghdad, that depict al-Zarqawi, leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, and his aides appearing all-thumbs with firearms.
