A Note From Iraq

My friend in Iraq reports:

Just a quick note on a subject that is unfolding here at Camp Bucca. We just had a tent erected next to ours today. We asked the KBR personnel what the tent was for and we were told that a local woman was going to be staying in it for awhile and, that there was a fire at her house and that her baby was burned in it. The baby is in the level three hospital here inside the prison and they gave her the tent so that she could stay close by. I bet you will not hear about that anywhere.
I won't take that bet. The mainstream media has shown absolutely no interest in reporting humanitarian aid efforts by Coalition forces. It becomes too hard to dehumanize and demonize people when they're caring for injured babies. There haven't been any press releases issued about humanitarian efforts at this camp, but it's the kind of thing a good reporter discovers on his or her own.
