Man of the Year For 2005
Because Time magazine dropped the ball this year in spectacular fashion (what the hell were the Time editors thinking?), The Dread Pundit Bluto now takes this opportunity to name the man who, this year, had the greatest effect on the news, for good or ill.
I have absolutely no idea how Time's editors came up with Bill and Melinda Gates and Bono as "Persons of the Year". Their published explanation is nonsense; obvious lies concealing some other motivation.
Most likely, they violated their own criteria for "Man of the Year" because they felt it might give the Republican Party a boost in the midterm elections in 2006. Even naming the Iraqi voters would have been defensible, but again, it would have acknowledged American success in the War on Terror.
