Dems Refuse to Stand for Pledge of Allegiance

Note the guy who starts to rise, only to be pulled down by one of the other children. The word "pussy" is just so...inadequate. Hey man! I think I saw your testicles roll under the bench over here!

New York Dems have started a media campaign blaming the entire state legislative impasse on the Repubs. Pot, meet kettle.

Thanks to Hot Air.

Under Obama, America Becomes a Force For Oppression

Once again, President Obama finds himself on the wrong side of history. From Investors Business Daily:
There was a coup all right, but it wasn't committed by the U.S. or the Honduran court. It was committed by Zelaya himself. He brazenly defied the law, and Hondurans overwhelmingly supported his removal (a pro-Zelaya rally Monday drew a mere 200 acolytes).

Yet the U.S. administration stood with Chavez and Castro, calling Zelaya's lawful removal "a coup." Obama called the action a "terrible precedent," and said Zelaya remains president.

In doing this, the U.S. condemned democrats who stood up to save their democracy, a move that should have been hailed as a historic turning of the tide against the false democracies of the region.
So what's the motive behind aligning the United States with brutal leftist dictators Chavez, Castro, and Ortega?

Leftist assmaggot Greg Gandin of The Nation blames Bush and offers an apologia for leftist tyranny in Latin America:
But the realities of governing in a country as poor as Honduras--more than 60 percent of its population live in poverty, more than 50 percent in extreme poverty--tends to reinforce a left-wing slant. Perhaps it was the imperious and imperial behavior of George W. Bush's ambassador to Honduras, described by Zelaya as "barbarous." Or maybe it was the fact that the Central American Free Trade Agreement, rather than delivering promised development, worsened his country's trade deficit with the United States while driving low wages even lower, as Honduras competed with its equally impoverished neighbors for investment. Or perhaps it was the US Food and Drug Administration's unilateral ban of Honduran cantaloupes because they were supposedly tainted with salmonella, though the FDA offered no proof of the charge, a move Zelaya called "unjust."
It seems that the Honduran government, which exercized precisely the same sort of checks and balances built into the US constitution to protect the people from tyranny, is to be burned at the altar of the worldwide Progressive revolution.

President Ousted in Honduras

The Honduran military has ousted Manuel Zelaya, sending him into exile in Costa Rica:
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (June 28) - Soldiers seized the national palace and sent President Manuel Zelaya into exile in Costa Rica early Sunday, hours before a highly disputed constitutional referendum. Zelaya called the action a coup and pledged to serve out the remaining five months of his term.
The President and his Secretary of State were quick to voice their concerns for democracy and the rule of law:
President Barack Obama said he was "deeply concerned" by Zelaya's expulsion and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the arrest should be condemned.

"I call on all political and social actors in Honduras to respect democratic norms, the rule of law and the tenets of the Inter-American Democratic Charter," Obama's statement read.
Of course, the Honduran military acted with the support of that country's supreme court, who had ruled Zelaya's proposals to change the constitution so that he could remain in power illegal. Also of course, Zelaya is a radical leftist allied with Hugo Chavez.

Wow, the Obama administration springs immediately into action to succor a wannabe Marxist dictator, yet Beloved Leader Barrack couldn't find it in his heart to say a few "just words" when Iranians were dying in the streets under the thumb of the mullahs.

Billy Mays Found Dead At Home

From the Associated (with terrorists) Press:
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Billy Mays, the burly, bearded television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.

Tampa police said Mays was found unresponsive by his wife Sunday morning. A fire rescue crew pronounced him dead at 7:45 a.m.
Since I've actually watched "Pitchmen" a couple of times (loved the scene when Mays "helped out" fellow huckster Anthony Sullivan by chumming the waters Sullivan was swimming to test an anti-shark device) and been subjected to Mays' loud latenight commercials, his death will affect me more than that of Popfreak Michael Jackson.

Obama DOESN'T Punt On Iran At News Conference

You have to be in the game to punt. Obama is sitting on a tailgate in the parking lot listening to the roar of the crowd.

While most of the Press Corps lapdogs try to give the President cover by steering the news conference to safer ground than the events in Iran, Fox News' Major Garrett asks Obama, "What took you so long...[to be 'appalled' at the events in Iran]."

Obama's words (just words) lend legitimacy to the mullahcracy. It's clear that he hopes the regime will be able to smother the second revolution in its crib.

A replay of Tiananmen is all but assured.

Update: Did I say "lapdogs?" I shouldn't have said that. I should have described them as "Mongolian Sluthounds specially trained to fellate their masters."

In the Name of the Mullahs

This video shows the death of a young Iranian woman, reportedly shot by the Basij on Saturday. It would be nice to believe that the demonstrations in Iran will have a lasting positive impact on that benighted nation, and that this young woman will have been martyred for a great cause. But I fear that it will just be Tianenmen all over again.

This is a very graphic video.

For Father's Day

Once, when I was small, my father taught me something useless. I had seen the old photographs and held the medals in my hand. Purple Heart and Bronze Star. I had been clamoring for stories of what he did in that war. What kind of guns did he shoot? Did he get to use his bayonet? How many Japs did he kill?

But he taught me something useless instead. He taught me how to figure out the firing order for an 18 cylinder aircraft engine. I had a pretty dim understanding of what cylinders did in an engine (I was only seven years old, after all), but I listened and I learned. Somehow I forgot about the war while we talked.

Sometimes he would tell me about his buddies from boot camp – the slim, smiling young men in the old photographs. I especially loved the story of the brawl they started one night in a bar, and how he escaped the Shore Patrol by slipping out through a bathroom window. And his friend who took him for a ride in a Corsair, a single seat fighter. They took out the radio gear to make room for my dad behind the pilot’s seat. The Corsair went into a dive so steep and fast that my father blacked out for a few seconds.

As I grew older my dad did share some of his darker memories with me. It was very different from what I had read in books and seen in movies. I began to catch a glimpse of the pride and terror of combat Marines, how they clung to each other as brothers, facing unimaginable horrors in a violent and pitiless crucible.

He described the queer, queasy feeling he got in the pit of his stomach, diving “ass over teakettle” into war as a tailgunner in a Dauntless Divebomber. And the queer, queasy feeling he got piloting a slow, ungainly Catalina PBY flying boat in a combat zone full of Japanese fighters. And the tight, heavy feeling in his stomach when he returned from a foot patrol near Yontan airfield on Okinawa, with only one other man of the ten who had left with him, and that man wounded and soon to die. He was seventeen when he enlisted. By the time he was nineteen he was a sergeant of Marines, and marked for life.

He was never strident. He didn’t raise his voice. He didn’t preach. He spoke of awful things in a flat voice and I knew the terrible price that had been paid by men like him in that struggle.

Many stories are told of the bond between father and son. Dramatic stories of courage, sacrifice, and impossible odds overcome by the power of a father’s love. But I think that bond shows its power most often in quiet, mundane ways. Like this:

That’s the firing order of a World War II vintage 18 cylinder aircraft engine - a bit of useless lore carried for decades as a token of love by the son, a symbol of that enduring bond, and a talisman for me to cling to and celebrate a life that ended years ago.

Happy Father's Day, Dad. I remember.

A (Small) Glimmer of Hope For Pontiac Loyalists

General Motors recently announced the sales of the Saturn, Hummer, and Saab brands, but said that the Pontiac brand would cease production sometime in 2010.

A local dealer claims that GM retained the rights to Pontiac in order to resurrect the brand once they are out from under the heavy thumb of Obama.

Their first order of business, if this dream comes to fruition, should be to fire the Pontiac executives who decided to replace the Grand Am and Grand Prix models with ugly Eurostyle blandingmobiles (which don't even have real names).

ABC: 'We Doan Need No Steenkin' Robust Debate'

In response to a letter from Ken McCay of the RNC calling ABC to task for basically whoring their "news" department out to the Obama administration's socialized healthcare juggernaut, ABC senior VP Kerry Smith tries to stake out some common ground:
I hope we can all agree that a robust debate of health care issues and potential policies is in order.
Everybody can agree except ABC it seems. Note the message circled in red at the bottom of their entry:

ABC News to Become American Version of Pravda

ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.

The network plans a primetime special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.
"Independent press?" We don't need no steenkin' "independent press."

Sex Offenders Are Everywhere

You can find out where registered sex offenders are by checking the National Sex Offender Registry. Always know where your children are and who they're with.

If you see the man pictured below in your neighborhood, make your children come inside immediately. Especially the fourteen year olds.

Send in the Clowns

And the circus begins:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A convicted terrorist can sue a former Bush administration lawyer for drafting the legal theories that led to his alleged torture, ruled a federal judge who said he was trying to balance a clash between war and the defense of personal freedoms.
Plot acts of terror and get yourself supplied with a traitorous lawyer who convinces a retardate judge to let you sue. Is this a great country or what?

Where is this idiot judge from?

Where else, San Francisco.

Obama: Not Even Bothering to Hide it Anymore

Obama has apparently become so confident in receiving cover from the lapdog press that he can be as brazen as he wants to be helping out his cronies [emphasis added]:
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says he has lost confidence in the inspector general who investigates AmeriCorps and other national service programs and has told Congress he is removing him from the position.
Obama's move follows an investigation by IG Gerald Walpin finding misuse of federal grants by a nonprofit education group led by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who is an Obama supporter and former NBA basketball star.
Welcome to the Gulag.

Expect this story to have a very short half-life.

Obama's Most Reckless Move Yet: Mirandizing Captured Terrorists

From the Weekly Standard:
If Tenet is right, it’s a good thing KSM was captured before Barack Obama became president. For, the Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan, according a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee. “The administration has decided to change the focus to law enforcement. Here’s the problem. You have foreign fighters who are targeting US troops today – foreign fighters who go to another country to kill Americans. We capture them…and they’re reading them their rights – Mirandizing these foreign fighters,” says Representative Mike Rogers, who recently met with military, intelligence and law enforcement officials on a fact-finding trip to Afghanistan.
It's official: Obama is living in a 9/10 dreamworld.

Government Motors Business Plan Takes Shape

So, you're a forward thinking radical socialist who has just nationalized a huge iconic American auto company and you need to get consumers to buy your line of putt-putt EcoCars. What to do?

Try the PushMePullYou strategery:
WASHINGTON (AP) - With auto sales in the doldrums, the House was considering a plan Tuesday to provide vouchers of up to $4,500 for consumers who turn in their gas-guzzling cars and trucks for more fuel-efficient vehicles...Owners of sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks or minivans that get 18 mpg or less could receive a voucher for $3,500 if their new truck or SUV is at least 2 mpg higher than their old vehicle. The voucher would increase to $4,500 if the mileage of the new truck or SUV is at least 5 mpg higher than the older vehicle. Consumers could also receive vouchers for leased vehicles.
The trade-ins will then be curshed and sold for scrap.

Are you f*ckin' kidding me?

The Press, The Prez, and Hot Monkey Love

Phil Bronstein of SFGate advises Obama and the tingly-legged mainstream press to get a room:
So far, this is all about image and character and press "opportunities." But with what CNN financial reporter Elizabeth Cohen called this morning "gazillions of dollars" of our money at stake and crazy people with nukes bristling from around the edges of the world, we can't afford not to keep a closer eye on the substance thing.
It's probably too late. The death of real, ethical, unbiased journalism in America began during the Vietnam War. Coronating the most unqualified man ever as President, and covering his missteps, is just the latest symptom in the long decline.

Update: Because I'll use any excuse to play some ZZ Top, here's a related video...

Supremes Uphold 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

At the urging of the Obama Administration, the Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of a lower court ruling upholding the policy:
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court on Monday agreed with the Obama administration and refused to review Pentagon policy barring gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military.
The court said it will not hear an appeal from former Army Capt. James Pietrangelo II, who was dismissed under the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
Good. The business of the military is peace through strength, not conducting hare-brained sociological experiments.

6 June, 1944: D-Day

The largest invasion in human history still came down to small groups of men - ultimately to the individuals - making heroic choices that collectively marked a turning point in history. The liberation of France and western Europe exacted a monstrous toll of blood.

The American media of the day could have made the argument that the huge invasion, with its massive casualty list, was a concession to Stalin, who was demanding another front to relieve pressure on the Red Army, advancing on Germany from the east.

Many of the French had collaborated with their Nazi conquerors, even to the point of participating in a puppet government, Vichy France. French had even fought alongside the Nazis in North Africa, scuttling their Mediterranean fleet rather than letting it fall into Allied hands. What point in liberating such a people?

After all, the British wanted to simply continue the Italian campaign and come in through Hitler's back door, seeing the Normandy invasion as perhaps unnecessary.

But the investigative reports and editorials went unwritten and the war was won.

20 Years Ago Today

The Chinese communists brutally suppressed the Tiananmen Square uprising:
BEIJING (Reuters) - Beijing's Tiananmen Square was quiet on Monday, the 18th anniversary of the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators, while a rights group said people were still behind bars for supporting the protests.

People's Liberation Army troops and tanks crushed the student-led demonstrations in the historic square on June 4, 1989, killing hundreds, possibly thousands.

Israeli Right Begins Anti-Obama Campaign

Obama's delusional suck-up speech in Egypt can ony add fuel to this fire:
The protest was only a part of a wider campaign launched by activists on Wednesday, in which they will try to counter the American stance by portraying Obama as an anti-Semite whose policies would harm the Jewish state.
Recklessly naive and venally political, the Obamanation endangers America as well.

ATLANTA — The Justice Department has rejected Georgia's system of using Social Security numbers and driver's license data to check whether prospective voters are citizens, a process that was a subject of a federal lawsuit in the weeks leading up to November's election.
In a letter released on Monday, the Justice Department said the state's voter verification program is frequently inaccurate and has a "discriminatory effect" on minority voters.
